Title: Upcoming Elections
Post by: HolyCount on 23 November 2008, 20:01:00
Right --- There is a General Election coming up in around 18 months or so and the Government is right up the creek without much of a paddle --- what do you guys and gals think they are going to pull out of the hat to try to win?  Bearing in mind that I am, after all , a bear of very little brain ..... keep it simple  ::)

My first thoughts would be a radical change to Council Tax ( Lord knows it's needed!) ... but what --- Lib Dem have already muted Local Income Tax, Conservatives seem to have no idea, so they would have to come up with something radical.

Re-vamped Poll Tax might work ( under a totally different name ) Basicall as before with more sensible exclusions and execution (for instance, if the tax is personal, not using the HOUSEHOLD income as a basis for personal exemptions / rebates .... as those with unemployed teenage kids found out).

Or, if it has to remain property based -- relate it to something we can all relate to -- like absolute square meterage inside of a nebulous 1991 value .....

The floor is yours ....................

I reckon Labour will wait for the conservatives to come up with a blinding idea and then promptly nick it. It's what they seem to be good at atm.  >:(

Labour & Conservative have been at loggerheads for years, & are equally full of sh*te. Libdems are made up of two no hope parties who have achieved nothing more than a pointless merge, promise everything safe in the knowledge they'll never get into power & fail equally as dismally. Monster raving Loo KNEE party are sadly defunct & god forbid we vote BNP 'cos we must'nt do that, very naughty indeed, that would make the others very cross!!!! NONE of them are worthy of our vote.
What would happen if, at the next general election no one voted for anyone, nothing, not a sausage. That'd dent a few egos! ::)

I still think they should print on ballot form "None of the above" on it , because the truth is their all a bunch of self serving pigs with their snouts in the trough  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

That would work but even better if no one voted, just stayed home & did'nt bother, i know that'll never happen but imagine the panic that degree of total apathy would cause! 8-)

Iceland has the right idea. Did anyone see it on the news? The people have come out in force & demanded a new government, because of its handling of the economic crisis up there. I said to myself, we should do that. Yeh right >:(

This is one of the British peoples big shortcomings -- we all moan about things ( me included )  ( erm .. I moan about things too -- not we all moan about me as well .....  ::) )  anyway ......
We all moan and DO very little about it.  We always have a go at the French for blockading the ports and burning our lamb --- but they certainly make their point - and often get their own way !!!!

The last time we did anything like that was the Poll Tax Riots -- and we won then !!!!!

therein lies the issue.........

Politicians 'claim' that they are working for the people.......rubbish!!!! total horsecrap... No one works 'for the people' they work for money....end of

so we are left with this dilemma, who do we want running the country and economy with their own interest coming first and us going to hell
