Am I right in thinking that the prices are sneaking up since the news about the speeding points increasing in the event of a conviction.

Prices are more likely to be rising due to weaker Pound v Euro

I run TomTom on my phone, but more often than not use the Carin or NCDR system in the car (yes, both Omegas have Carin and NCDR at the moment!)

Got a Garmin, it's going to cost £60 to upgrade to the latest mapping.

You can buy  a new Tom Tom for £99 with the latest mapping

It's a no brainer.

Map updates are all around £60, no matter what device/software.

For the portable units, I like the Tomtom units more than the rest (and I've used most of them).  Navman ones aren't bad either, but can be clumsy to use at times.
