Grass him up to who though, one of his own.
If rumours are right they log the vechicles out so they know is using them (PMSL ::) - I really believe that)
-
Pity you couldn't get a photo of him! >:(
rather hate that its one rule for us and another for them! >:(

First time I vere saw this with a coppe, but the amount of times I see folk on the phone driving down this area peckham, dulwich etc, is just unbeleivable, and in very expensive cars aswell, where you think they would have hansfree at least :-X......personally never answer the phone whilst driving, don't have handfree, and pull over if I do answer the phone or need to make a call.

A mate of mine is a copper (BOOO, HISSSSSS), and he got 'banned' from driving the cop cars for a month after scratching the hubcaps on an astra. The Met check cars in and out, mark all damage and the driver, so i'd report it! (well, next time, when you get the reg, that is).

Sure it was a mobile phone and not an Airwave handset?? Tetra sets have both radio functionality as well as mobile phone/text capability....

I got the same kind of look from the young copper sat next to me at the lights. He was texting, and looked over towards me, I shook my head and slapped my wrists.

Legally, its classed as a radio and thus exempt from the mobby phone legislation.
Morally, yes, still in the wrong..... ::)

never commented on the smoking/driving thing. All that was said was the 'device' is legally a radio, not a mobile phone.
Likewise, other emergency service drivers using a radio are exempt, as are taxi drivers, gritter drivers, etc etc....
But if an accident happens as a result of using it, different story.... ;)

i was getting at the fact that i thought in generally they were getting more keen on anything in your hand that could be considered a distraction such as food, cigarette or walkie talkie/phone

I use my radio and data unit (touch screen), mostly the touch screen, all the time, i have too, mostly when driving, never had any interest from patrol cars......havent crashed yet ::)
I shouldnt really say this.....but ive started not to wear my seatbelt all the time (exempt when ive got passengers anyway) as my new vehicle has 'diplomat' glass in the back.....no one can see if ive got passengers or not! ;D OK i know the risks of not wearing a seatbelt ;)
-
some cops are ok, i got tugged for dodgy spacing on my simon plate and the nice chap said get it changed and didnt give me a ticket etc (despite being on a warning on the police database for this plate!)
as he was an old pal from school!! so they not all bad lol
-
They all do it, you only have to watch Roadwars and the like, blue lighting and talking in to the radio and one hand on the wheel, using an auto of course... ;D ;D ;D

Was he in a marked Police vehicle, or a personal car in uniform?
Nobody is an angel - but if he was in a plod car then it's certainly not going to get the Force a very good name ::)
As far as I'm aware, all operational cars have inbuilt radios fitted, so as to avoid using handhelds.
I would imagine if caught out of uniform, it would be the FPN same as anyone else - in uniform, you'd be very likely to get a disciplinary.
As far as ACAB, I don't think you can tar everyone with that brush - as with anything, it's a small number of bad apples that very quickly promote the bad image for everyone..

Sounds like a major lack of integrity. He has to uphold the law which he himself is breaking. If I gave a soldier extra duties for a shoddy uniform while mine was in rag order my Sergant-Major would fill me in! ;D ;D

Marked car, and it looked like an ordinary mobile to me.
Do as I say ........ Fair enoughwe were waiting at the lights but when someone was actually done for moving his mobile from his pocket to the dash! :-?
