Doing two loads of washing, including bed sheets, and the tumble dryer starts making noises as though the drum is about to tear itself from the machine.
So, I take the (six year old) Hoover Maxi 6 apart, well as best as possible given that the cabinet is almost a sealed unit apart from the front and top panel. ::) ::)
It is a Sunday of course, and what do I find but the main bearing sprocket has torn itself away from the rear of the drum. As I have no wealding kit or hardware to complete a viable repair my clothes drying has come to an abrupt halt and I am looking at a replacement machine. :o :o :o ::) ::) ::) ::)
On a Sunday is one thing, but before Christmas when money is tight........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( Bloody machines!! >:( >:( >:(

I am on the third floor Tony, without any external drying facilities, but yes, the old traditional clothes horse has come out of hiding and is standing beside a radiator!! :D :D ;)

Out tumbledryer threw its hand in a few weeks ago. She decided to go shopping and low and behold, all dryers these days are a few hundred quid upwards... We only paid about £70 for the old one! Seems the new ones are damp sensing and so switch off when contents are dry to save wasting lecky and getting the fabric too crisp.
Before buying a new dryer, had a look at the broken one - the fuse had blown. :-[ Replaced it (it was an old one anyway) and we are up and running again. ;D

When the problem is that easily fixed it is great, but I would question why the (13amp?) fuse blew. Could be an indication of a serious electrical problem that with these machines can cause fires. ::) ::)
I would not leave it running without somebody in the house if I were you Hotel21. ;)

sorry to hear that..money is tight here also.. and last week our satellite receiver give the last breath on an electric jump (high voltage) :-/

Was given a Derek and Clive LP for my birthday when I was 18....I think it was called Ad Nauseam...(or something like that)....my old mum had a listen.....said it was disgusting and should be banned.....I loved it. :y :y
