I recently had a nice little bit of luck with some ex metropolitan police omega 3.2 elites, one was bought by a trader for £2300 with only 48k on the clock as it needed 2 bumpers and to be fair repainting or heavy mopping, but guess what, hes had the whole car repainted and made to look like brand new, and is selling it as low mileage 48k on 03, with absolutely no mention of it being a police vehicle, and its up for, wait for it -------- £5995 WHAT THE Fxxx !!!!!
sure its a mint car, but thats a piss take!
if i had painted it and sold it, £3600 would have been my top price in mint condition, theres some dreamers out there!

Dont see why the former owner is important, Im sure it will be full elite spec now.

i sold some unopened records, never been taken out of the seal, of pink floyd and the rolling stones to a m8 for 30 quid. he sold them on and made 80quid profit. my loss hes gain. thats the way it goes. business is business if someone buys the car good luck to the seller i say

I won't comment on that particular car, as I can't ... but having bought from Roger Budden nearly a year ago all I can say is this .... my experience, nowt else...
Car immaculately prepared and no attempt to hide previous history (it was a lease vehicle but had been with just one company for 5 years)
Independant Warranty included in the price (OK some say they are not worth the paper they are written on .. but many garages charge silly money for them)
Whilst on his premises he allowed me to use his computor to check some details (MOT / Insurance / HPI ) and to transfer the payment electronically without any quibble.
Full service completed, including cambelt and tensioners even though not due for 8000 miles (72000 - previous change at 40200).
Full years MOT even though it still had 3 months of the "old" one left.
6 months tax negotiated
Decent (compared with Autotrader) but not spectacular trade in on a V reg 2.5 Elite allowed, and even told me to take the tax-disc and claim back unused portion.
When it was discovered (3 days later) that the self-leveling rear shockers had been replaced with "normal" ones (these were quite serviceable .. just not self levelling) he arranged for them to be replaced with self levelling within 3 days at no cost to me ... ok ... I had to drive to his workshop .. but that was no hardship really.
Phoned me after a month to see if I was happy and if there was anything I needed.
So IMHO, although his prices are high, you get good service and aftersales.
Why did I choose to spend a bit OTT ?? He was the only place with the car I wanted, and I don't regret a penny of it.
Just my 2.3 p's worth (inc VAT .. :) )

For someone who is looking for such purchasing reassurance, I agree you did the right thing.
Personally, I tend to buy cars really cheap in need of repair - and don't usually lose - but, it is often hard work, and sometimes frustrating when it doesn't go right.
It all depends on what you want from your purchase......
Neither way is wrong, it's up to the buyer... :y
