My youngest nephew has bought a 2nd hand acer aspire 6390...which i dont think is working properly it has vista home premium on it but it does not want to connect via its own wireless i`ve got it to connect via a usb wireless and wired connection and it immedialtly went to windows update and downloaded 87 updates!!! and when i`ve checked the device manager its got 3 unidentified devices i`ve tried updating the drivers for them but to no avail....it seems to working okish now but it still wont find any networks via it own wireless...any ideas??? :-/

Wireless afaik comes in B band or G band ---- modern routers tend to be G and old wi-fi devices are often B, the two aren't compatable. By adding the usb wireless device you have made them both same band and can therefore "talk" to each other. If the lappies own wi-fi is outdated you are stuck using a dongle

Have a peep on the acer website -- see if there is a downloadable manual
