Title: Just an idea
Post by: Bernard on 30 December 2006, 21:34:54
Recently whilst stationary in traffic , finished up with Skip Lorry front Wheel Pressing on my Rear bumper resulting in complete New Bumper.
Driver refused to give me details and was ordered by his Boss to drive of !
Despite contacting Police at the time ,his Company denied any Accident had taken place.
Lesson Learnt, now carry disposal camera in glove box to save any dispute in Future.
Hopefully wont have to use it but up to the time Muppet ran into me i had over 27 Years claim free motoring and have had to pay out £200 Excess before Christmas to get my car back from the Bodyshop. :-?

Where you in town buy any chance? Could look into CCTV cameras?

For the past 3 years all my mobile phones have had cameras built in, and 95% of the time i have my phone with me...

Why not send a legal style letter to the firm advising that the driver left the scene of an accident, you can prove it on CCTV and will take the matter to the police if he doesn't cough up for the damage he caused :-/

Or worse, you'll issue a writ via the county court against the Company for the damage + costs + time + trauma + anything else you can think of  :P

Plus if it does go to court will the driver be prepared to commit purjury for his boss and risk a custodiol sentence

we had a similar thing a few years ago, a wagon tapped the back of my mums car and then drove off.

She got the number but there was no witnesses, we contacted the police and they were non to interested so we persuied it through the court.

The driver caved in and admitted that he had caused the damage, the company were order to pay for the damage + cost + compensation and the driver was prosicuted for driving without due care and leaving the scene of an accident.

A moral victory but the company went bust shortly after the case so we go nothing from them  :(

I forgot to mention it on the other post, but between all the rubbish in my boot I also carry a disposable camera... might come in handy in similar circumstances... or if I happen to spot an alien spaceship landing.
