that Halfords have a bit of a sale on at the moment. Yesterday I bought a new pressure washer for £50. It is the smaller one - the HP125 which has an average rating of 100 bar. Plenty enough for car use I reckon. It can also dispense washing fluid if wished plus comes with a pressure lance and brush. I won't be using the brush though for fear of scratches.
I then went to look at the tools section to see if there were any deals on socket sets, but, grrrrrrrrrrr, out fo luck. :(
Will test it out today on the car and the scuttle drains.

I bought the £300 one last year for £150 - it lasted a month before the top heavy unit kept falling over and breaking. Took ages for parts to come - by which time more bits of plastic had failed so I took it back in a huff and bought a Karcher K5.50 off the net.
Keep your receipt just in case, but it shouldn't affect yours as it was the integral hose reel that caused the problem. :-X
Oil is also half price too. (own brand)
-
Cheers for that. I will keep a sharp eye out on the durability front. I nearly got the model that you bought as I liked the idea of the hose reel, but could not justify paying £100 for this!
What was the washer actually like though?
Yes, I saw the oil on offer as well. There were also a few deal on batteries and winter fluids.

Is that the Halfords on the Uxbridge Road just outside Southall?
Tempted to get one of those socket sets if they are in the sale, sods law they won't be any sales on around the time i am looking for them.
Where the actually in the sale, just out of stock??
-
which set was it again? just browsing their crap website..
got a 120 piece set for £120.... was it the 150 piece set to go for?

Not that my car gets washed very often :-[ I do use the brush that came with my Karcher washer if I'm giving the car a quick wash - it's not stiff enough to scratch the car.

150 is the one. Not perfect, but would be ideal for your euro trip. (Spanners little thin, dig in hands a bit)...
Come have a look at the one I bought....
-
The machine mart stuff is better plus, there is a VAT free day soon......

Tunnie,
Yes, it is the Halfords on the Uxbridge Road by Southall. I refer to it as Hayes Bridge. In the old days EMI used to have thier record factory there and there was a large model of Nipper (the dog looking into the gramophone which is the trademark of HMV) in the front window of the offices connected to the factory. Enough of local history and I digress.
Just reread my original post which was probably slightly confusing. Whast I meant was that the socket sets were not in the sale. However Mark is correct about Machine Mart stuff - I have some of their tools and they have always been good. Look out for that VAT free day I say!
-
I quite like my Halfords set, but then it didn't cost me much...
Spanners, as M_DTM had said, bit thin and dig in.
I've yet to break any part of the set yet, quite an achievement for me ;)
The set comes with 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive rachets, but no adapters to convert between them - which means, for example, you cannot use the 3/8" screwdriver bits in the screwdriver handle, which is a shame...
The addition of some extra screwdriver bits and some adapters makes it a comprehensive set to take out in an emergency...

Cheers x25xe, if anyone spots that 150 set in the sale PM me...
Their crap site does not even list the 150 set >:(

lol for fook sake, i hate their website. I searched for "socket set":
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultView?searchTerm=socket+set&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1&pageSize=10000&beginIndex=0&beginIndexForPagination=0&sType=SimpleSearch&searchType=EXACT&searchTermCaseSensitive=no&searchTermOperator=LIKE&searchTermScope=3&coSearchSkuEnabled=true&resultCatEntryType=2&sortOrder=ascending&resultType=2&topCategoryId=ALL&x=0&y=0
And it does not list it! >:(
Cheers for that TB, extremely tempted to buy one! ;D

does that set go big enough for wheel nuts?
As said, I will show you the 150 piece set when you pick up that steering column...
-
No indication of the sale in store. The £150 set was listed as exaclty that £150!
Fairly tempted to place an order though.

Same here, if it goes up to the size of the wheel nuts i think i'll defo get one, and a breaker bar too for the nuts.

I can recommend the Halfords Breaker Bars. I have one and regularly use it. Never been an issue. Wheel nuts I think are either 15 or 18mm and I would have thought that this set would include both of these sizes. I recall using my small Stanley set for the wheel nuts recently.

I hate the halfords site, you search for breaker bar and sod all comes up. Search for torque wrench and the cheapest one is £50!! Machine Mart site is much better.
Thinking of getting the 150 set from halfrauds, and these:

You mean 17mm and 19mm ;)
Of course, the 150 piece one includes these sizes, as do most sets...

Only problem with the torque wrench is that it starts from 28nm - I could do with one that starts much lower. But good price :y

Got one of these, not machine mart one, but that kind of thing. Keep it MV6, excellent for when the wheel nuts are too flippin tight...

TBH it was underpowered for the PSI claimed - ideal for the car but I wanted to scrub the block paved drive too and it struggled to shift the mould - until it fell over :-X
