I like fantasy type stuff -- Earthsea Trilogy sort of thing as well as Dan Browne and books of that ilk. Also into family history stuff -- Cornish History mainly.
Tend only to read on holidays when I will get through 3 or 4 books in succession. Last book I read was The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury. I have Colditz by P.R Reid lined up (relates to the family history, as a cousin was held there )

Is that purely fictional or based on fact (as far as we know) ?
-
Based on fact but fictional characters.
I have The Last Templar in my collection a really good book. If you enjoyed that I would recommend Robyn Youngs books http://www.robynyoung.com/
also Bernard Cornwells "Grail Quest" novels, which is also based on fact, yet these stories main character is an English Archer. My second all time books the Grail Quests
http://www.bernardcornwell.net/index2.cfm?page=1&seriesid=6
George R R Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" are the Best books ever in my honest opinion.

Its the bit leading up to is is very interesting, all about the War Games in the late 70's when we sent the Vulcans, and the Americans preferred our more capable huge Delta design, and the lumbing B52's are you typical American. Bloody huge and can't turn corners.
Also good reading the way it built up, they wanted to do a sneaky invasion but were forced by their own idiots into a full scale invasion.
Only 40 pages in so far, but very good :)

Before working in Saudi I spent a couple of months at sunny Lytham St Annes training up. They had the old Saudi Air Force lightnings parked out, sad sight. We did get regular treats of lightnings which were used as chase aircraft for the Tornado's check flights. Many a runway beatup and vertical pull-up. Nothing like it when the sound hits your chest.

I believe they can, as certainly at Fairford I once saw a USAF F16 (? the one with the twin tail fins anyway) go from very low level parallel flight along the runway to a sudden 90 degree vertical 'lift-off' to a height in excess of 30,000 feet! :o :o Now that was impressive! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
EDIT: It was an F14 Tomcat, like this:

The Mill on the floss by Geoge Eliot. Found in a skip @ Thetford just before it rained. Why throw an old book away? They all belong on shelves. No publish or edition date but it's decades old & printed by
William Blackwood & Sons, London & Edinburgh. It'll now last a few more decades. Only heathens throw books away.
Ronnie Barkers Bio, struggling with it tbh, bit theatre luvvy darling but i'll see it through. Been lent the hardback of Russell Brand's "Booky Wook". Not started yet, don't like him much but should make an entertaning read! 8-)

Very impressive Lizzie.
I still prefer the Lightning, to me its like the classic english sports car. A very big engine and good handling suspension/steering. Only in this case the pilot has 2 engines so twice as much fun!. OK, he can pass everything except a petrol station, but......
Listen to the comments on the vid "showed harrier pilots a different form of vertical takeoff", and the pilots interviewed all enjoyed flying it. They were flying a real, powerful plane, not a computer game.
Ken

Yeah, great, but what are you reading? ::)
-
Sorry I got carried away.
I took some light reading with me for this contract, currently reads are :
C++ weekend crash course. Taken me over a week so far ......
Modern Operating Systems by Tanenbaum. Interesting to see how computers could really work if they weren't tied to the Intel/Microsoft architecture.
