Title: manifold gaskets replaced , got bill 2day
Post by: vauxfan2k on 06 December 2008, 14:15:28
Got the manifold gaskets done on my 95 v6, they were blowing real bad since I got the car, totally spoiled the car.

got both sides done, snapped/stripped studs replaced, face of manifolds cleaned up and refitted, engine now silent even from cold.
total cost : £165 inc vat.

I provided the gaskets but the studs etc were provided by garage,

does that seem reasonable? it took them from 12noon til 5:30 to do it.

cheers :)

Although I would do that kind of job myself, if I knew somebody who could do all that for that price I would bite there hand off!! ;D ;D ;)

Blimey, my Vx garage would charge £75+vat per hour just for the labour! :'( :'( :o  So on that basis the bill would be at least £400!! :o :o

You have just had a result my dear man! ;D ;D ;)

kool, altho £165 on a car that is 13+ year old might seem alot to some, but I could see no point in breaking a car for something so minor even if it was a little costly.

makes the car a pleasure to drive now, without having pedestrians turn round wondering where the jcb noise is coming from.  ;D
