Title: Sad day for nostalgic kids telly lovers

Oliver Postgate has died :(

He did some cracking shows, not like the crap of today.

Just watching it on the news, I grew up watching his stuff, loved Bagpuss :(

I grew up watching his work, from Catain Pugwash, Noggin The Nog, to the Clangers and so. so, many more!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

A great loss for all kids, especially us big ones! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

hate to say it cpt pugwash wasnt oliver postgates work it was John Ryans ,but still agree with you lizzie the clangers and stuff like from postgate was iconic tv for kids and is still shown on the youngsters programs  8-) 8-) 8-) so it shows how much it hasnt dated ,even from 40 years ago  :o :o

Thanks Lance, you are of course right and I just think of all good childrens programmes of this type as being created by Postgate. ;)

I should have mentioned, of course, Ivor the Engine from my day :-* :-* :-* 8-) 8-)

Postgate's work was far far better than the rubbish shown on kids TV  today. A great loss :(

Ivor the Engine was one of the best. Debs probably knows them.  ;D

Yes we did f'ecking cheek!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

We had the best television in the world in a lovely real wood cabinet that my mum used to polish with pride, and we treasured so much it was only on about 3 hours a day to stop it wearing out with one hour given for "Watch With Mother" in the afternoons; or was it that they didn't broadcast all the time??!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  

Yes, it was the latter! :D :D ;)

um im sorry but i found bagpuss abit creepy, ivor the engine was a cheaper version of thomas the tank, and I was watching button moon when pugwash was on  ;D ;D ;D ;D ::) ::)

but respect given all the same, rest in peace  :)
