Title: I've had a bump!
Post by: Welung666 on 15 December 2008, 12:14:11
GRRRRRR  >:( >:( >:(

After dropping no. 2 daughter off at college I was heading home down Hawne Lane (very steep and twisty downhill road and full of pot holes). Stopped at the bottom to turn right, looked right, looked left, all clear. Looked right again to see a silver flash, stood on the brakes and CRUNCH!  >:( >:( She'd come down Corngreaves Road, round the bend (very overgrown as it's parkland and a completely blind corner!) IMO far to quickly! She'd hit and disconnected before she even started braking!

Her Rover 25 has a little scuff on the rear passendger door, dented the front edge of the rear wheel arch and rear bumper corner. Split the black plastic under my headlight, smashed the nearside foglight and ripped off the newly fitted nearside headlight washer jet (don't worry I picked it up) but it looks like it's killed the extending part under neath. The nearside headlight has moved too as the indicator side seems to be sticking out more than it did.

I'm now trying to talk her into not putting it through the insurance as I can get the arch repaired at a local bodyshop, replace the rear door and bumper cheaper than my insurance will charge me in excess!  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( Rant over for now

If it goes to insurance, there is a good chance the 25 will be written off

Having a 25 myself, I know exactly how difficult some parts are to get.  Catapillar took over managing the spares when Rover went tits up, but under no obligations to provide all parts (unlike Rover, had they stayed solvent). Body panels and trims in particular seem to be non existent.

Sorry, too late! :o :o :o :o ;)

Bloody male drivers, getting in the way of a women in a hurry who no doubt had a heck of a lot to do!! >:( >:(.........................................

Don't worry Wellung, only joking ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D, and I am sorry to hear of your misfortune.  Think you are doing the right thng by avoiding insurance if you can! 8-) 8-) ;)

I have taken off three people's (all men!) rear bumpers at roundabouts because they were prattling around going far too slowly to enter it.  Sounds like this woman is like me; does not like hanging around......!! :D ;)

Whenever people offer to pay I always assume they are uninsured.

You better believe it!
Nowt wrong with women drivers that wouldn't be cured by removing male drivers from the roads!

Sorry about your bump but it does appear that you pulled out on her therefore you're at fault! :P

I wouldn't even bother to fight it if it went through the insurance, if you've hit her rear door she was either going sideways or was level with you when you started to pull out ::)

Sadly, agreed, given the road map as further 'evidence'.  Give way lines at the base of your road?  Paint cannot move, unfortunately, but the speed of vehicles is open to interpretation/conjecture.....
