New neighbour is parking directly opposite my drive, and since it is a narrow alley it is almost impossible to get out of my drive. I asked him nicely to move his car, and he was a complete ass. He said that he would park a little farther along the road "if there is space", but that he owned a flat in the nearby building and could park anywhere that he wants.
As far as I know he can park there, but he doesn't have to, at least not when the rest of the street is empty. He certainly could have a better attitude to his neighbours. If his car is still there later tonight I think that it might become an ice sculpture . . . ;)
-
Let his tyres down ;)

I liked the expanding foam/exhaust back box thing that was discussed here the other day....
Would probably start a retaliatory series of events though.... :(

I like that 1 too ;D ;D ;D :-X :-X :-X

Problem solved for tonight. He left, so I parked my car where he was. No point me being 'generous' and using my off street parking if it's hard to get in and out. Might as well use the street parking that we all have an equal right to. :P ;D
Keep the ideas coming. I think the foam thing would probably expose me to criminal damage, but maybe vaseline under the door handle? Tie something to the front subframe so that he thinks something has fallen off the car? Pebbles in his hubcaps? Let the tires down and a hand pump with an Xmas bow on it? :D

Remember the trick of removal of valve cores from at least two of the tyres.
Firstly, most folks only have one spare wheel...
Also, if you picture the scene, prepared folks connect up an air compressor, reinflate the tyre, then all the air blasts back out when the nozzle is removed due to lack of valve core......
Raises the blood pressure of the owner (apparently......)

Yes, core removal tools are great. Then you can tape the 4 valve cores to the driver's window. People generally don't carry core removal tools around with them, so it's a call to the AA/RAC, and usually a 4hr wait for them to show up. :P ;D ;D
You can also let down one tire and pack around the lug bolts with peanut butter or various unpleasant substances.

If you really want to wind someone up turn their wiper blades over. It usually scratches the windscreen when they turn them on. Then they have to look at the scratches forever unless they replace the windscreen.
-
Jack the car up and put fish boxes under each axle, drop the car. and when he goes to take off the wheels will turn... but he wont be going anywhere ;D ;D
if he gets real nasty, then you have the following options:
1: dog sh1t under the door handles
2: axle grease the wiper blades
3: kipper on the manifold
4: relieve your bladder into his petrol tank
::) ::)

we had that here a couple of times, average sized estate road, but with half of it taken up, backing a megga out can be a bit tight.
Few years ago, father tunnie was backing out, and genuinely accidently tapped the Ford Fiesta that was in the road, we got out, and there was a rather large dent in it.
Turns out we wrote it off, never had a problem since! ;D

That could very well happen. I'm trying to be careful, but I have to go up on both pavements to get out of the drive, and when it drops off the pavement it goes 6" before you can stop it.

whilst action like this does go some way to vent stress, you have to remember that winning the war is the objective, along the way a few small battle will be lost.....
If your car is on the drive/garage and you access is obstructed then you have the law on your side, some pictures and a call to the local cop shop normally has things sorted out 'tout suite'
However if you are not on the drive then he is able to block the drive and not incurr the wrath of the law.....
Remember always box clever

Yeah, that's why I'm looking for ideas. I may just get a bunch of cheap cars with tax on and fill up the street. 8-)

get a tub of industrial wipes and smear one across the windscreen, you try to get it off, what a nightmare, gets worse if you put water on it, the wiper just skids off , my boy tried to clean my window with one in summer ;)

If you knew someone with a Forklift that would be fun ;D ;D ;D

I'm not sure, Broocie will know better, but I think that if he blocks your driveway he's causing an obstruction and can be ticketed.

Range Rover for Hire, Adjustable Dixon Bate Tow Ball, (So you can adjust it to hit center door)
Obligatory Front Bull Bar ( It's NOT a NUDGE bar)

It's not necessarily 100% impossible to get out, but it is very difficult and a high risk of hitting something. However, he argues that it is not totally blocked so he does not have to move.

only if your car is on the drive, if there is nothing on the drive then they can park over it......
Parking on the far side may be a different issue, that may not constitute blocking in....
Theo, have you got drop kerbs?

I'm not sure what you mean. We have very low curbs with sidewalks on both sides, but a very narrow road. I have to back out and onto the opposite curb to get out of the drive. There is almost nowhere to go when there is a car parked half on the opposite curb.

Pretty sure ,that unless there is a sign allowing it, you can't park with one side of the car on the kerb

I might be wrong here so don't take this as gospel - but I'm sure we were told that (In E+W at least) that the legal definition of a "road" includes the bit the cars drive on - AND the pavement - basically the distance between properties on either side.
Therefore, I don't think it's illegal to park with part of the vehicle on the kerb, unless it could reasonably prevent pedestrians (including things like prams) getting past safely.
-
It really seems like a grey (sorry Theo, gray) area. Looks like it comes down to fisticuffs. :D
-
my old man had a similar problem at his last house. basically the nice policeman said that it's an offence to cause an obstruction that stops a person getting his vehicle OFF his drive. but its not an offence to stop a person getting ON his drive. he aslo said that your chances of getting an officer to turn out and resolve the issue are very slim.

Rings a bell here too, the public highway is 'Hedgerow to Hedgerow' so that can include pavements. Couldn't ticket for driving other than on the Public Highway unless it was parked with all four wheels off the road at the same time (ie on the pavement before someone asks if that includes suspended in mid-air)

we have 2 neighbours who have noisy dogs barking 24/7, another whos kid cannot communicate without screaming constantly and yet another who loves his bass (sh1te) music.
the last one seems to have visitors who likes to "abandon" their vans/cars in front of the car garages even though there is a perfectly good lay-by 10 foot away !!!
i blooming can't wait to move !!!!!! ::)

Not read the rest of this thread so far (doing so now....) but it is an offence to a) park on a footpath (either wholly or in part) as well as b) drive on a footpath. One applies to cars, the other applies to LGV's - not checked up yet which is which.... ;)

Not questioning you for a second B, but we were quite firmly told something different re. parking.
Maybe it differs between E/W and Scootland?

Would think it comes under reg 103, RV(C&U) Regs, but here are a few, specifically for Englandshire. (good old Google....)
Section 28 Town Police Clauses Act 1847 - wilfully causing an obstruction to any public footpath or public thoroughfare.
Regulation 103 Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 - vehicles causing unnecessary obstruction of the road (including verge).
Section 22 Road Traffic Act 1988 - leaving vehicles in a dangerous position on the road (including verge).
Section 137 Highways Act 1980 wilful obstruction of the free passage along a highway.
Section 72 Highways Act 1835 - driving on any footpath or causeway by the side of any road made or set apart for the use or accommodation of foot passengers.
Section 131(1)(c) Highways Act 1980 - deposits anything whatsoever on a highway so it would damage the highway.
Also, did a breeze through various forums (fora?) and general concensus is that the offence is only complete if there is a) a legally authorised drop kerb (not a chunk of timber or constructed steel to raise the access to the kerb) and b) the vehicle is preventing a vehicle leaving a driveway, not entering.
Doubtfull if parking opposite the entrance would constitute the offence, but each case must be considered on its merits.
Whilst I agree its unlikely that a cop would come out with lights and sirens ablaze, its still a Community issue and as such (up here at least) a Community Cop would attend sometime. ::)

i f you have any mates who are tyre fitters ask them for some tyre bead soap and wipe it all over his wiper blades and screen ,when goes to clean it ,it soaps up something terribly ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D and it a right so and so to get off as well ;) ;) ;) ;)

A lot of the above mention obstructions - does that mean if a car is taking up 2 feet of a 10 ft pavement, leaving ample room for road and pedestrians, the offence is not complete? (I'm not challenging you by the way - just trying to work it out in my head)...
Down here, they'd probably sent the local PCSO.. ::)
-
Don't get me started on PCSO's!! >:( >:( >:(

Glad we dont have PCSO's up here....

Get 8 bigish nails and leave two propped against the front and rear of each tire. Either way he pulls off he gets 4 flat tires a distance from home

No idea - I have had an "overview" on the subject, at best :-[

I imagine if he's parked at the kerb not on it & not on yellow lines or any other parking restrictions he's legally within is rights to do so albeit at your inconvenience. All the suggestions of what to do to his car are funny but amount to criminal damage. Given that he won't fit in & park in a neighbourly fashion, i'd rather be charged with face to face assault than pussying around with his car behind his back.
HIT HIM!

Sound advice there m8 :y

Hello theres a man blocking my driveway with his car ........... oh and i "think" he has a knife
they will be there in 2 mins tops

The way we've recently had a similar situation explained to us is this .If your access or exit is restricted by another vehicle you have grounds to complain to the Police. It doesn't matter whether he parks his car out side his own house or either side of your drive .If you struggle to leave or enter your drive he has to move/Park else where .That comes straight from the horses mouth so to speak .But lodging a complaint and actually achieving a satisfactory out come are two different things .I suppose it depends on who is sent to deal with the ignorant sod

drain oil replace sump plug.car with blown motor no longer a problem.parking issue solved. :y :y :y
-
Before you do anything I would put up a descrete CCTV camera as you know the instant something happens to his car you will get the blame and the revenge.
1st I would be tempted for some joke parking tickets off ebay, they work a treat.
If he doesnt see the funny side then pour some fish oil down his vent, cats are buggers when clambering on paintwork. Try and put it some where it wont smell into the car in fact rather than the vents just down the sides of the bonnet where the wings bolt on.

thin film of marg or butter on roof and then add bread crumbs
Loads of beak sized dents.....................

or................lob a brick through his side window and then lean in and dig a screw driver into his stereo. then pop over to his flat knock on his door and say you just chased 2 hoodies off trying to nick his stereo. that way you trash his car and have him say thankyou for the compliment !!!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Jeez you lot are luvly!
Silicone spray on windscreen, good for a laugh.
Or if you really hate someone, same spray on brake discs if he has open alloys.
Superglue on wiper blades and along bottom edges of side windows.
If he has vents at the base of the windscreen--thats where the dog/cat-poo goes! Squeeze it in there (dont forget the gloves),and wipe of any visible residue.

Or just cut a little hole in the flexi pipe on the brakes - that way he will have working brakes to get out of his street, but once all the fluid leaks out, bye bye car! :o ;D
