Title: my damn ecu light
Post by: tigerwoods on 15 December 2008, 18:26:29
hi folks, getting well frustrated now with the ecu light on constantly and running slightly ragged when i try to accellerate!
called out green flag a few days ago cause the spanner light came on(what is the correct term?)and though she turned over she wouldnt fire.
the engineer played about with fuses and relays etc and bingo, away i went, ecu light was gone too! next morning the ecu light was back, and so was the misfire!
 anyone experienced this nightmare? HELP?

If a 2.6/3.2, see pedal trick post in maintenence guides.  If 2.2, need to get codes read

im wondering if its possible to reset the fault and then redo the pedal trick when the light comes back on?

worth checking the code again, see if anything else has cropped up.

Erm, shouldn't that be a 4 digit code?

Tiger, your car, as mine, gives obd2 codes, which are  4 digit. I would suggest another pedal trick as said, and a re count.

Crank sensor anyone?

ok, sorry, just being lazy. i think from memory that the code was 0073. just used the last two numbers!
looked up the code at the time and as i said it came up with maf low voltage. >:(

I've looked up every code, and no MAF codes for 2.6/3.2 end in 73.  The only code that ends in 73 is a fuel trim one.

No codes end in 73 for 2.2 petrol

One fuelling code ending in 73 for 2.2 diesel

Which engine is it again?

Ignore my q about engine, seen its a 2.6  :-[

redo pedal trick to get the codes, as otherwise we're working in the dark
