from memory there are 2.5 and 3.0 versions aswell as the later 2.6 and 3.2 versions...
i think they either come with leather or sports recaros and sometimes leather sports seats? (not sure about the seats)
dont know if they have mv6 on the logbook but they should as the other models say what spec it is in the logbook
a good way to tell if its an mv6 is that on the side running strips they dont have mv6 or cd or whatever on that small plastic plaque just behind the side repeater/indicator

Nope...
Pre-facelift came in 3.0 form only. Manual and auto versions. Also came with either cloth or leather, leather was an option extra.
Facelift did have the 2.6 / early 3.0 and 3.2
2.6/3.0s came in auto and manual. But the 3.2s only had autos.
You do see police cars badged MV6, this did not have sports seats or alloys, very basic spec.
Usual toys are sunroof (pre-facelift only) HIDS, sporty allows, blind, cruise was optional extra too
-
I aint seen a Mini Facelift MV6 that is a 2.5... I only have seen 3.0...
Think they did 2.6 7 3.2 in the Facelift.
The leather sports interior was an optional extra, as was the satnav and cruise control.
They have Imersher wheels, lower suspenion, no self leveling, no Bose, rear Blind, auto dimming rear view mirror, seats aren't memory electric like the Elite.

ok then... parkers is getting information wrong again(says mv6's came in 2.5,2.6,3.0 and 3.2 versions

nah, 2.5's where never fitted to the MV6

I have a 1998 MV6 which is not ex police and it has:
Leather Recaros
17" Alloys
Sun roof and Climate Control
HID's
However it doesn't have:
Rear Blind
Cruise COntrol
Self Levelling Suspension.
It is a 3 litre and goes like stink though!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Then ... to confuse matters further, European Opel used the MV6 name instead of our Elite! ;) :y :y :y
-
In the UK, as Tunnie said :y
-
All Police Spec ones are very basic, and were never sold retail. These are all 3.0/3.2 depending on age.
Retail spec, prefacelift mv6 is roughly similar to CDX (minus cruise), facelift mv6 similar to CD spec.
-
Mine has:
Recaro (really? - not badged) heated cloth sports seats
Rear seats are not heated.
17" Irmscher wheels with 235 tyres
Lower and stiffer suspension (IIRC this was done with springs)
MV6 on log book
Nice fake carbon trim (better than the 'wood' IMO).

Be aware most (all?) seats in Omega are made by recaro. Only retail MV6 have the sports seats though

I know ;) ..... hence the wording. :y ;D ;D .... but in Europe ..... 8-)
-
MV6 was launched late 1997 and had 2.6 3.0 or 3.2 litre engines
-
MV6 had boot spoiler as standard
'carbon' trim in prefacelift, 'aluminium' (silver) trim in facelift
All MV6's have 17" wheels
Blind was not standard
Not all MV6s have the badge on the door

Don't forget MV6 has Dual Zone Climate (Very important when you have a wife who alays wants the temp different to you) Suspension is lowered as already said. I find the suspension setup a real gem and corners really well for such a large car :y
-
wow i only wanted some simple info seams to have opened a bit of a debate.so it appears that there is not a top spec car and all seats are made by recardo even if they arnt marked,as for toys i suppose the anser is to make a list of what i want and check it against the car

Agreed. Not harsh over the bumps but very assured round the corners.
It's better than my old '02 BMW 5 series which had sports suspension with 17" wheels and that was the handling benchmark at the time. (Same weight too).
-
I bought my standard MV6 1998 3.0 manual from Hotel21. As far as i know all MV6's were fitted with sport recaro seats ie you can pull the front squab out beneath your knees. Mine came with fabric sport seats but i've upgraded her to leather sport seats which are different to cd, cdx Elite but don't have memory just up & down switch. Also upgraded to Bose sounds which were never standard as they were on Elites.
MV6 suspension firmer & lower (not by much) & i'm told even those fitted with sport leather never had leather door cards which mine has now. The wheels are the best in my opinion but sadly suffer from buckling which is a crying shame as they're gorgeous. Mine has no rear blind although it will soon but does have the auto dipping rear mirror. 3.0 in mini or pre facelifts & 2.6 or 3.2 facelifts.
I could be wrong on a couple of points...d'oh!, but hope this helps :y.
-
.....so it appears that there is not a top spec car ......
:-/ Err? There is ...... it's the Elite. :y :y
-
most facelift MV6s didnt have sunroof either but it was available as an option
on paper each spec has its own list of characteristics but there were so many things you could have as options, hence the debate!!
-
What about a limited slip diff and electronic stability control??
-
Thought I might add my pennies worth:
Face Lift 3.0 MV6 Estate, says MV6 on log book.
Leather Sports seats, Manual, Cruise, Self Levelling with 235 17" Alloys, Lowered and firm ride, No Sunroof, and silly Siver Painted Trim where the Wood should go.
Never been Plod as far as I know, I believe these are standard fittments for non plod.
-

Retail MV6 comes with none of those.
some xx-plod ones have lsd but not all....
-
Im intreguied now, as my 98 MV6 has the 17's the dual zone climate, the xeon's electric sunroom, 6 disk changer in boot, heated cloth seats.
Are they recaro's? as I swear ive seen some that have recaro printed on the actual back bit of the seat in white print, mine dont have any branding on them at all?
-

i have that as well on my cdx and my son plays about with it, gives me the hump

All Omegas have a dual heating/aircon/climate system ....... as did the Senator before it. :y :y :y

.....so it appears that there is not a top spec car ......
:-/ Err? There is ...... it's the Elite. :y :y
so if i get the elite will it have leather or the recaroes ? when i had a ford[sorry] ghia x pack plus i knew it was top of the range with all the bells and whistles, while the elite seams to vary such a lot

It'll have the leather with full electric memory seats tied in with the mirrors. If you had the rarer leather MV6 seats they'd NOT be memory. I suppose it depends what you want of a car, soft squidgy suspension & comfort or relatively harder suspension & less toys. Only option on an elite was NO leather (sorry! colour screen on late facelift Elites too!). An Elite is an Elite just some of the spec alters with age ie reverse sensors.

!!!!! Even my Elite doesn't have an electric sunroom!!!!!!!!
I am impressed ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
To r1 - if you want all the toys get an Elite :y

And maybe bung some stiffer springs on it, MV6 style.
I'd suggest MV6 ones, but with the extra weight of all those gizmos you may need a bit more. :y

They should be recaro sports leather or fabric. Can you pull the squab out? The bit under your knees? Should be a little more figure hugging, if so they're sports which the MV6 should have as mine did. Sport leather is rarer (i'm a lucky boy). but no memory settings.
BTW mine also has cruise. Dunno if all MV6's did or whether first owner specced it. 'Tis a bit of a minefield!!!

'Twas I who fitted the cruise to that one. Its what my howtoow was based on.... :y

I'm glad you did B. Helps mpg if nothing else. As you know i've added a few bits & bobs but that's about it now other than maintainence & valeting. No point in spoiling a good'un....not that you need me to tell you that!!!!
