Title: Onetel DNS gone
Post by: Martin_1962 on 04 January 2007, 12:24:20
My site has disappeared as has my avatar and graphic

Can't get to any site except by using IP address if I know it, on whatever here at work.

Where can I find an IP address for a broken DBS site?

Most are, as long as you are clear about what you want.

This forum is currently hosted on a Zen ADSL line.  I cannot complain about the service, good speeds, a /28 netblock of static IPs, no bandwidth limits (due to change to 100Gb download (Zen to not count upload) in March),decent tech support. But then it costs £35 a month for 2Mb line.

Your new ISP, BT, aren't too bad as an ISP. The 'extras' are poor (mail, website, single dynamic IP), but its cheap :).  And besides, in this day and age, nobody should really be using their ISP email address anyway or rely on ISP webhosting now...

Well I am now down for 11/01/07 >:( >:( >:( >:(

UKOnline test says already booked tough, other ISPs I phoned didn't answer

I am getting 4 months free or I go to Watchdog

I now have a temporary PAYG BT modem account with wheresmybroadband as the account name - tech support cracked up!

However while my Onetel pants account still works I'll use it!

Well Onetel sites are available at home (I can see my site) but not from Demon DNS at work. Got one site back using hosts - just got to get www.onetel.net.uk so I can copy files from there to photobucket.

I just don't know why all these problems occur - this is now Demon useless as well!!!!

Demon's DNS servers will (assuming not a corrupt cache) just resolve as per onetel's DNS setup.  I said a week or so ago that your avatar had died, and I don't rely on any ISP DNS. So there is obviously a slight issue with onetel's DNS.  I can guess what, but its for them to resolve (no pun intended).
