Is there any way to restrict a users' bandwidth? The router is a BT Home hub, but I can't see a simple way of doing it.
Reason for asking is that my speed can drop to below 56k whilst somebody else is using it, then after blocking them it returns to normal. Unblock, and I get sub-56k speeds again.
Or if there is a way to get priority over them, kind of like what is happening now but in reverse?

Most download programs have settings to set a maximum upload and download speed. Perhaps it would be better just to ask the other user to set a limit when you are wanting to use the internet at the same time.

I know if there are multiple computers sharing a wirless connection, the bandwidth will be reduced but if you are experiencing such low speeds, it seems that your broadband speed isn't fast enough for your usage requirements. I have up to five computers and an Xbox 360 making use of one connection, usually just two computers though, I never seem to have sub-56k speeds.
