Certainly as far as the leccy is concerned.
Got my quarterly mail from my energy supplier pestering me to enter my meter readings. Entered the readings, thought how much they were trying to stiff me with the estimated reading (1000 units too high) and growled at the growing credit balance in my account.
Then... I don't know why, but I looked back at last quarter's reading. EXACTLY the same. :o Went out to the meter to double check. Hmm. Turn on a few loads and the red LED on the meter is glowing dimly instead of flashing, and no digits are turning. It has been FUBAR since September at least. ::)
Time for some frantic tumble drying activity before a call to the supplier to negotiate what they're going to charge me I guess!

I bet there's a lead from the nearest lamppost to your meter ::)

Enjoy it while it lasts,
Hate to think what they do in this situation, keep us posted.

my estimation is that they will charge you based on your seasonly averages..same happened in our home with water..

Well, called them to report the problem and they didn't appear that fussed. They're sending someone out in mid January. I have already prepared a spreadsheet of previous readings which makes it clear what I should be paying so they'll be in for it if they "estimate" a penny more.
I guess the utility companies are so far removed from running the grid these days that electricity leaking from the grid unbilled is of no concern to them. ::)
