I was selling my old iPhone on Ebay last night and just before the listing finished I noticed there were other items I was supposedly selling. It turned out that my Ebay account had been hacked into.... When I tried to get into my email that was telling me my password was incorrect! At this point I started to panic as my friend told me that the winner will pay and it will end up going into someone elses account. Luckily I eventually managed to get my passwords reset and changed. Turns out the winning bidder never even bid on my phone so sounds like his account was attacked too.
I had a torjan on my pc so I assume someone has managed to get my passwords. I have changed all my passwords for everything now and cancelled my cards etc as cleverly my paypal password was the sane as Ebay ::)
So a bit of advice for everyone, keep AV software up to date and scan regulary, dont have the same passwords for different sites and watch out for the Ebay scammers!
Cheers,
Richard

a) Don't sell phones/laptops on eGay - you WILL be scammed
b) move away from hotmail.

Problem is, where else can you sell an old phone...?
What would you recommend instead of hotmail? I cant say I have had any problems with it over the years until I had a trojan and they have somehow got my passwords :(
I have deleted the virus's now so will I be safe now or should I backup and do a factory restore? Dont want to do it unless I have to.

Why sell the old phone. Sell it anywhere online, you'll be scammed. Sell it COC, and you're likely to get belted over head. Either way, you'll have no phone and no money.
If your PC has been compromised, clean it up fully - rebuild if necessary (I would anyway) - then change every single password.
