Fort William a great place to see get on the Ullapool road visit Rogie Falls, do the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig. Go past Ullapool and visit Eilean Donan castle, visit any distillery you can stagger to. Go and have a look at Ben nevis I've been there 6 times and only seen the summit once from the ground. Take wet weather gear that's why Scotland is so green.Go to Inverness get Google earth and see lots more have a great time the misses and I are going in August she has never been. Hope that is some help
Jim :) :) :) :) :)

If you catch the weather on a nice
day ten minutes there is no place like it. Rest of the time it's miserable. ;)
Seriously, though, there are some fantastic roads. I'll let those with the local knowledge tell you where because in all honesty I've only been tagging along when I've been there, and my mind has been flowing from one bend to the next, and paying attention to little else. If you have a passion for driving take to a few of the back roads. :y

The various locations like Culluden Moor, Lockness, and the mountains around Aviemore are wonderful. :-* :-* :-*##
However, you must visit as many distilleries as you can for a few wee drams......hick!! :D :D ;)

Take the Distillery route which is basically East from Aviemore, or North from Perth through the country roads toward Fraserburgh ;)
You will come across quite a few distilleries but my favourite is Glenfillicks or is it Glenfilichs (sorry to the Scots for my spelling!!) :D :D
It reminds me I must buy another bottle as all is gone! :o :o

Having covered that region in September with a merry band of kit car enthusiasts I have to agree. Fitted in a ride on the Strathspey railway too!
In fact, HGV mechanic, I could dig out the routes we did if you're interested, just to give you a few ideas?

Our H21 will no doubt promote the east whilst i will promote the superior west of Scotland ;D I love Argyll & Bute etc
Wonderful views if its not foggy or rainey...So thats the views wasted.
Wonderful roads to open up the Omega....Problem is speed cameras everywhere....A9 is splattered with them although to be fair some of the driving on that road is atrocious.

Fog - Anytime !! And if its too hot for fog when your here ( ie above 2degrees) then you will have the wonderful...Midge :-/
Speed Cameras and mobile units very very sneaky up here, as mentioned in particular, the A9 which runs Perth to Aviemore....

Plenty of fun to be had off the main roads at mostly sub speed limit speeds though. :y

remember Scotland is completely closed on a sunday................that is when we meet to plan the invasion and practice the mutilation of the morris dancing southern softies :P ;D
-
Great scenery, good roads no traffic until you hit Glasgow , drove up there many times ! ::)
-
went to scotch corner once and turned back.

You cannae visit Scotland without popping round to Broocies for a plate of "Stovies". In all honesty it would be rude not too.
The address & phone no are...:- $^*bjf9e4m['xmxhwbeivkm0, sorry faulty keyboard, & my life would'nt be worth living!!!
Joking aside if you head n/w of Glasgow, past Loch Lomond which you HAVE too see, then pick up the A83 to Campbeltown then on to the infamous Mull of Kintyre. It's a long drive but the scenery is breathtaking with plenty of B&B's en route. I've been in the truck a few times & it's beautiful. :y

Flying to E'Bro is really cheap, or at least it was about 2 yrs ago. I had to catch a train to Durham and that cost me £90 one way. I also looked at flying to E'bro and had quotes ranging from £19 to £29.
