ok, ive seen it advtised on tv a few times, and have been wondering, how dose it work and what stops people accessing my computor/ wireless laptop???? :-/

passwords basically.
I use something similar called netop remote control.
That users server and client software, all encrypted and password protected, works very well.
Ive also used remotely anywhere, which lets you get at your pc through any web browser, but found it slower and less reliable.

can you access anything? music, etc?

it is if you are sat at the computer, so you would need to copy the file you want to youre remote location to play anything.
Maybe a FTP server is more what you want?

basically a file server, so no pc access, but you can set up the folders you want to be available, and you can copy those to your remote location.

There are a few similar sites. seem to recall that gotomypc is a citrix based solution, so you only need a citrix client on the computer you are using for accessing. Some are purely webbased, and use activex clients.
Other option, if XP Pro or later, is the MS RDP webclient. Or VNC. Or commerical solutions such as pcanywhere etc
