Title: Feel like Marie now.
Post by: Vamps on 10 January 2009, 23:45:48
Just removed 2 black bags of teddies and a DS from daughters room, she now hates me. She is not going to sleep, she says she cant, now that I can live with, it can happen to any of us, but there is no excuse for the constant shouting and complaining. Been a problem for about a week, normally she is asleep within minutes of going to bed. She is simply worrying herself and getting frustrated by not falling asleep quickly which, as we know, makes it worse. But her behaviour at the moment is simply being naughty. I am now playing the ignoring game, oh I have taken her bedroom bulb out, she has other lights so she is not in the dark, TV on max, neighbours are deaf. Could be a long night.

Sympathy only, no advice needed.

why the sudden change ?

Not sure, first thought it was something to do with the holidays, late nights and not playing out during the day, a week at school should have sorted that. Believe me been through all the theory, she is happy and from a settled home, not bullied at school, loads of friends etc, a good girl as a rule. Next stem might be to ignore the the usual toughish love and resort to a smack, no bruises of course.......... ::)

Kids soon work it out Mike.

We were buggers as kids.  (I also have a younger brother and sister)

My Sister has 2 lads 18 and 21, now my Sister allways has to have the last word......so imagine whats it's like when the kids turn out the same.  She was no different a a kid.

Us 2 lads learnt the hard way, and yes it didnt do us any any harm (a good smack)  my Sister allways seemed to get away with.  But in the long run maybe she hasnt, as her kids are far worse than we ever were.

Went through similar problems with 2 of my daughters and my granddaughter when they hit early teen's. Girls tend to get very hormonal as they are turning into young women. All I could do was stay calm and be supportive. At times that can be very difficult :-X

mia is being a real pain in the ass currently  >:( >:(

Totally ruined Tracy's birthday by throwing a stroppy fit in the middle of town and then refusing to do as she was told.

All her presents were taken off her and to day she has only got one back, i have come down on her like a ton of bricks.

I haven't hidden the presents i have put them on display as well, sort of donkey/carrot  theme, i am hoping she will see the error of her ways.....but i doubt she will

It is all part of being a parent, there is not right and wrong, you have to go with the flow. Tonight I pretended to ring Grandad, had a lout conversation so that daughter could hear, Saod Grandad wanted to speak to her, pleased she did not want to as pretend call..... ::)

We've all been through this ... well those of us with grown up kids  anyway !!!

Nowhere does anyone teach you how to be a parent !!!  You learn as you go along. I was talking to a polish friend a few weeks back who could not understand the problem ... we suddenly realised the difference ... in Poland the Grandparents are THERE and take a great deal of time and interest in both kid and grand kid throughout .. offering support and help .. in UK the grand kids are seen for an hour a mopnth .. or sometimes as a baby sitting service .. but the "extended family" no longer exists, so little "experience" is actively passed on.

Absolutely right......................a little more complicated, but you have hit the nail on the head . :)

If they (the kids mentioned earlier) are "not tired and can't sleep", then you have to believe them and take their word for it. So as a good responsible parent, what can you do? Simple, make them tired!! Make them get dressed in jogging kit (or the likes) and accompanied by a parent take them for a run, a long run, a long hard run! Normally after the first night they give in, if not and they like it then it could turn into helping you lose the pounds you gained over Christmas. Anyway, make them tired by either exercising the body, or the brain by reading a book.

Good luck  :y

at that age she is old enough to find her own place to live!

i left home at 17 cos i couldnt live with my dad anymore.

my sister was thrown out at 16 cos she was uncontrolable and my other sister ran away at 15 to northern ireland.

we all talk now just but the best thing i did was get out on my own 2 feet.

just remind your daughter whos roof she lives under. and if she dont like it threaten her with the door!

Both in bed but we had an 'incident' earlier....following 3 warnings, a sit on the step, 2 further warnings on the step he was dispatched with a smacked bum to his bedroom and the door handle removed.

Went to put the dorr handle back on this evening.....and the little bugger has done it himself before going bed!

To bloody clever!

Lol, he keeps showing the mother in law how to work the TV!

they are great like that.

one day shane walked in the lounge with a biscuit. both me and jase looked at each other trying to figure out where he got it from cos the buscuit tin is ontop of fridge frezzer.

he had only climbed up the kitchen side and reached up and got one him self.
our faces must have been a picture. told him off for climbing up like!

my 2 boys have just woke kicking hell out the bedroom door
had to change the doors to solid 1s because when we first moved in the house the doors was like cardboard and the boys kicked and punched and hole in the door

The ( engineering/problem solving) apple hasnt fallen too far from the tree. :y ;D

Hmm mine - boys now have ultimate sanction - I'll delete their game saves!!!!

As to cleverness

Alex can turn on any console set TV to correct input aspect ratio and swith to correct feed on receiver.

I run a scart switcher and the Wiiiiiii is on composhite so doesn't auto switch and also doesn't do aspect ratio.

PS3 is HDMI and we have no auto switching on HDMI. Sound is routed to amp (DD5.1 or DTS) so he makes sure that is on the correct input.

Little sod is pretty good with a PC too!

Daughter is top stream at maths year 7 at grammar school

Jack is an excellent games driver, only one who can ever beat me, even won more races than me at our last Motorstorm Pacific Rift tournament (learns very fast)

I have to hide tools from Alex or he will dismantle something - little sod has also decided he wants to go to same school as Emma-Jo so has pulled his finger out at school.

I breed clever children!

Mine know a few cars, some aircraft and some trains.

The twins love helicopters, and want a ride in one, when we last did RIAT they used all their film on the choppers.

They all look out for Omegas
