Saw the car tax renewal ad arround christmas and kept meaning to post about it.
How come the they offer 2 prize draws for Seat cars. Who pays for the cars in the 1st place.
US? if so, why cant they just reduce the car tax, then we all benefit.

How much is it to tax a mig over there? Since last June any mig registered costs 2000 euro anualy >:( >:( >:(
-
Quick bit of maths (based on googled figures):
26,000,000 cars on UK roads
2 x SEATs at about £8k ea - £16k
total cost per car driver: 0.006p.

I see what you are saying, but in theory still not thinking its something they should be doing.
Its like the commision paid to the post office for a tax disc is saved when doing it online, but they still charge £2.50 for a card transaction.

AHHH! That's something else entirely - the effing public sector. £2.50 to process a card transaction that is simpler and cheaper to deal with than handling a cheque or cash? >:(

Maybe so. But the saving from the post office commision to do it manually should cover that £2.50 and I bet they are still making money.

Unfortunalty not. The customs go around and check UK registered cars. Lots of people have done that and now the coppers have gotten wise to it >:(

So, how much is the average family car to tax each year, just out of interest.... :question

What about a UK car on a previously NI plate?

It goes on emissions. Tax is now a marketable thing for dealers. An ad on the telly for a 1.2 hyundai is 120 anually. A prius is 49ish.
The mig is in the highest group.
Large engined cars are just not popular here and so are legislated out of existance >:( >:( >:(. The average you'll see in trafic is a 1.4-1.8.
V6's are rare never mind v8's >:( >:(

What about a UK car on a previously NI plate?
Believe me i've tried to think of everything. :D
The only option to get a bigger engined car without the tax is do an engine swap as the car will still be registered before this system.

then your insurance wil be void if you dont declare it an dhave an accedent.

I'd declare the insurance. It just wouldn't be eligible for tne new tax. ::)

No charge for a debit card transaction.

I think that last time I used my debit card.
I don't remember a £2.50 charge on that one. :-* :-* :-*
