me and the mrs keep having a go at each other over the times my 3 kids go to bed
the mrs would put them to bed at 5pm if she had her way
i normaly let them stay up till 7pm depending on how good they are
my daughter is 5 and my 2 sons are 1 and 2
what do you all think about what time i should be kicking the kicks up the wooden hill
-
ours stay up till they feel tired, we did set times when they were about 5and 8 for 9pm, but that didnt last long. long as they get up in the morning on time i cant see the problem.
-
Can't remember what time we used to put our young ones down. But do remember that as they get older, the later it gets, and being blunt the less sex you get.
Sorry to be blunt, but I would make the most of early bed times as long as you can ;) ;).
-
To be honest 7 seems fine if they behave fine if you ask me.

my son goes between 630pm and 7pm. at weekends we let him stay up so we can try and get a lye in.
shane has a routine. tv for and hour , bath if its bath night, cupa tea and then a story in bed. once the story is done if he is still awakw we let him read to himself but he knows he is not allowed out his bed unless its for a wee.

Mia is 7 and she in in bed at 8pm, story and then off to sleep.
Most of the time she goes up at 7, watches a DVD, gets comfy and is ready for her story.
She is not a morning person, if she could she would lie in till midday, Xmas day we had to wake her up!!!

Kids need routine. They should go to bed at the same time every night with the same routine.
My 9 year old daughter still goes at 7 pm every night but then has her tv on for 2 hours.
Youngest who is 21 months goes at 7 every night too but straight to sleep. He then sleeps straight through to 8 the next morning. He is back in bed again at 11 am and sleeps till 3 pm. Has done ever since he was about 6 months because we stick to the same routine every night.

His Lordship, aged 2, gets his warm milk at between 7 and 7:30, while watching kids TV on the sofa. at around half past we just say to him, "Time for bed" and he toddles off into the bedroom and waits for us to come and tuck him in --- on a good night he will stay there til around 6:30 the following morning.
I KNOW it won't last !!!!!!
-
our little lad goes to bed at 8-8:30. has his milk 2 stories then just leave him reading/looking at his books in bed. he goes to sleep when he's tired.

No wish to offend the purists, but kids are like dogs in that they need routine and, most important, the same routine day and daily.
Times, whilst important, are not the be all and end all but doing hte same thing and having a united front as parents, is the most important.
We also found that allowing the kids personal space most important, even from an early age. If they are in bed the, thats there space, school and important things excepted. Its there area where they are able to stay undisturbed by other household events...
