Funny you should say this. I have had the TC light flashing unexpectedly a couple of times since they've been gritting (tyres on the back have only done 1 or 2 K, hence they should grip OK, and I am not minded to leave rubber everywhere given that the bill's still in my short term memory ;)).

Meanwhile, the Westfield has nearly swapped ends on me a couple of times. It's let go so violently that I've actually gone over the back end and checked it because I was convinced something was shifting under load.

This might explain everything.  >:(

Some council officials must be real dumf*cks using some thing that hasn't been fully tested especially were public safety is concerned >:(

I can beat that, I was driving to work this morning and drove off the meadowhall roundabout off M1 to head into Sheffield and just as you come round the blind corner watching the muppets in the inside lane dont try and cut accross I had to drive over 30/40 M20 bolts that were spread accross the road  >:( >:( :o >:( >:(

I was sure I would have damaged something but hadnt. If it wasnt for being in such a hurry I would have stopped and given the wagon driver parked up the road a piece of my mind. They were cleaned away in less than ten minutes as the MD that drives in the same way said they was not there when he drove in.

I cannot believe the wagon driver had set off without moving them off the back of his truck  >:(

Could explain why I couldn't set off the other night at a roundabout.

I 'attempted' to set off in a smallish gap, and the car just stood still spinning the wheels and fighting with TC. When it did finally did move forwards, it was too late, so applied the brakes and was surprised to feel the ABS kick in as I was hardly moving!

There was deffo no ice on the road as it was about 4 degrees! Ok the road was wet, but it seemed strange to the point where I almost went to tesco to check the tyre pressures (then remembered that they have a stupid machine there now, so didn’t bother) :-/

Tell you what has made a big difference to the grip I have in the winter - the use of winter or 4 season tyres. Below 7 degrees the tyres most of us have don't perform very well. I've had to put new wheels on my car recently and got some 4 season tyres to go with them, it has made a big difference in grip.

I must confess that I've had a few brown trouser moments recently... When it was cold it was fine but now it's just wet some of the roads around me are slippery as break :o :o ::) ::)

I know this area is using this new salt mixture so I wonder if that has anything to do with it?? :-/ :-/ :-/

Actually, come to think of it, when I changed the rear pads in SWMBO's Rover Coupe the other day they seemed to be contaminated... Didn't really think anything of it as they were wafer thin anyway ::) ::)
