Ive had a bit of a clear out and now have a few bits of what id call scrap metal i need too get rid of.
First is an industrial work bench made out of incredibly heavy angle iron (i assume) must weigh 60/70 kg at a guess...along with a heavy heavy and large vice 10/15 kg.
Would these be worth anything too a scrappie...no idea what price is now days.
Or is going too be a skip jobbie.

scrap metal doesn't seem to be very high at the minute :(

Would make a nice bench for someone who liked gettin there hands dirty.....size of the vice id imagine its from some sort of factory.
Nearly gave myself a hurnier moving the damn thing. ;D

Just had a quick look round the net, thought it might be interesting to get some current scrap metal prices. Couldnt find anything worth posting.

I've just disposed of VW golf £30 and Renault laguna £50, scrappie was saying how lucky I was, him giving me this much as the price of scrap metal being so low, coming from Huntingdon, you might have heard of Burtons??
-
We've just got rid of an Omega shell and got nothing for it
-
2 Years ago I scrapped 6 carlton alloys and I think I got £80. Would hate to think what they are worth today.

Yeah know them mate.... ;)
Skip it is then....shame as the bench could have been usefull and im sure the vice would have been.
Oh well. :(
-
spose you can always take all the decent bits off and sell them on and then just scrap the rolling shell for what it's worth :-/
-
what grinds the most is that the Laguna still had MOT, no-one interested, my daughter scrapped a K reg Astra 6 months ago, got £80.

Stick em on flea bay, they'll get a good price, shame I'm too far away as well. I just bought some racks laughingly called "heavy duty". They are absolute crap. you move them and the clip in joints spring out, totally unsafe for anything beyond a couple of pot plants, and even then the 10mm crap board base will get wet and those would fall thro. :'( :'(
I remember the days when workbenches were proper well built items, you could drop an engine and gearbox on one with little or no effect. :y :y :y

Real solid bugger and welded joints.....took 3 guys too lift it in and me on me own too drag the bugger out....walked like john wayne after and had too back out of the promise i was on with the wife... ;D
-
u wont get bugger all for steel, its copper, brass & lead you need. even gold these days is getting a good price. ;)
-
Six months ago steel was bringing £200 per ton. things have now changed somewhat China was taking as much scrap as it would take, since the downturn it's turning scrap away.
-
...strange & intresting
The price of Scrap metal up here remains high, ive scrapped 3 in the last 30 days.
£68 rover 200 ( only a shell - no doors etc ) and £98 / £113 two omegas, not much left in them either;
Rate consistantly here is £75 a tonne and still was yesterday.
