I can't find my original thread, but a quick recap - hired a car in november, parked it up for a couple of days and found some scrote had crashed into the rear bumper when i returned. Returned car to airport and hid it at the back of the yard. 3 credit card bills on and no charge - I didn't take out the excess waiver.

Did they not check the car on return?if they didn't i don't think they have a case against you, judging by the time now elapsed you should be ok
-
They didn't check it on return :y There was no dent when you left it in their yard ::) You cannot be held responsible if someone clouts it after you have returned it ;)

I think honesty is the best policy and you should phone them up and come clean :D

If they didn't make a point of it when you returned it, then they cannot come after you now. Who knows what happened to it when you left their premises? - Not your problem. Also who knows how many people have hired it since you? :-?

while you are at it, fess up to everything you have ever done, they might see the "dent" as a minor blemish if you do. ;D ;D ;D

And don't forget the enormous brown envelope full of fifties to help them 'forget'.

years ago, when in the forces, i returned home and hired a car from a company in luton. i picked the car up from a layby from a bloke and off i went after him swiping my credit card on one of the old slider machines.
about 5 miles away i heard a screach and found the tyre was shreaded on the inside, so called out rac cos the spare was missing.
he was shocked when he arrived cos the tyre was knacked, no spare, the brake pads were non existent and to cap it all there was no indicator relay in the f/box!!
when i contacted the hire company the guy said if he could claim another £500 off of the card i could keep the car!!!!
in the end i contacted the police who towed the car away and i reclaimed my deposit back from the card company!! :o

If it's not spotted on the day and you haven't signed for the damage then you will be fine.
