I have finally decided to sell my 03 vectra (with failed fuel injection pump). Was just wondering if it is better to break it and sell the bits, or to sell the whole car as a non runner?

what trim level is it? does it definately cost what you said it would to replace the fuel injector pump?

as a non runner will go cheap.. :-/

if it's £3500 to replace the pump, its technically a write-off! :'(

I agree.....that sounds far too much!
I assume its a tractor.....diesel pumps are loads more than petrol.....but even so.....i had a merc diesel fuel pump replaced (c220 td) by a merc dealer a few years ago.....and with flushing the system out (it had petrol put in it, hence why the punp failed) it was around £1500......i think the pump was around £800, the rest was labour.

even if the pump is an engine out job its won't be that much.... how much is the actual pump? and whats wrong with it?

Are you after something like this ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-VECTRA-2-0TDI-52-REG-FUEL-PUMP_W0QQitemZ120327175022QQihZ002QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247
about £325, he should have the matching ECU for it.

i just sold a friends vectra estate DTi with the same fault we got £360 on eGay for it
it was a 2000 W Estate in silver with 100k on it
its not as simple as replacing the pump! a Tech II is required and also changing a Chain driven diesel injection pump is highly skilled work so £££££££££
i can give you the details of the bloke who bought my friends he is a VX breaker who fixes the faulty pump problem
this is a common fault i believe with all 2.0 Di/DTi engines made between 1999 - 2004

Sounds technical :P
OK, here's a complete engine for £650 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/02-08-VECTRA-1-9-CDTI-120-ENGINE-salvage-breaking_W0QQitemZ140294863003QQihZ004QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

That would be the ideal replacement if itll go in the older shape!

Sorry been at work, it's 2003 new shape vectra 2.2 DTi SRi the fuel injector pump has perished and it is £2500 for a replacement one fitted. It hasn't ever touched a drop of petrol always ran on diesel just decided it didn't want to put fuel into the engine one day. It has 132000ish miles on it and apart from that and a small dink on the front bumper it is in great condition. So what would you do? Strip it down and sell the bits, or sell the whole car?

insured? procted no claims, go any matches ?no what i would do
