Title: On the subject of computers . . .
Post by: theolodian on 11 January 2007, 20:23:44
. . . what the smeg is wrong with this thing?  Fresh XP pro install, worked great.  Eventually added IE7, suddenly steady but random blank or corrupt page downloads, corrupt pics, and corrupt downloaded files.  Added FF2, slightly better but still suffers the same problems.  It had no problems before IE7?  Now I have to use the Mac for any downloads and sometimes for uploads!?  Everything else is very stable for Winblows, no programs crash, nor the OS.  Nothing else seems affected.  Some kind of XP firewall issue?  Stinkpad laptop, 1.6 Celeron.

All updates done up until the last week or so.

I'd rather reinstall XP from scratch again than try to rip out IE7, may do that after I get back.

Just uninstall IE7, it should just restore everything back to IE6 and how things were before.

IE7 is crap and slow.
