Title: At last.....
Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 12 January 2007, 12:29:56
....an agreed sum for my written off Estate (now 6 weeks on!), took a bit of negotiating mind!

Project B is now driving better thanks to a non-bent power steering pulley and new front wishbone bushes......camber will be set tomorrow morning to stop the excessive front tyre wear (camber is currently 2.5deg+, it should be about 1.2deg!)

And so the hunt for a decent estate, ideally with "driver involvememnt pack" will begin.

I truly feel sorry for the seller of any Omega that has Mark come to view it.....  ;D

Thats quick i reckon!

Im still waiting money back for a hire car i went and rented myself....oh about 12 months ago now  :(
I had it two weeks before insurance comp managed to find an 'equivilant' car.
I have sent the receipt off to them for it.......but lastest one is they want to see the hire agreement now  >:( I hope the hire comp still have a copy......coz i dunno where my copy is now  :(

I think they were a tad upset about having to pay over £7k for the 'equivilant' car while mine was being repaired....at nearly £120/day .....the bill soon runs up  ;D

Six weeks doesn't seem THAT bad. I waited nearly three months for the first offer on a rover 213s once. Then the offer was so ridiculously low I had to negotiate for another 5/6 weeks :(

The real question is.... is it enough? :-/

And I for one would love to come and seeyou kicking the tyres of a new car - I make people nervous doing it and I know nowt.  ;D

As long as the miles etc add up.  Personally, I have my suspitions....

I realise that this one is an auto, but surely thats nowt for a man of Marks Calibre (ouch - bad pun!!)     ;D

Ow yes, made a tidy little profit lets say......more then double what it stood me at!

I remember many years ago, 'man father' used to work as an RAC car inspector (for about 9 months whilst he was between jobs) in the east midlands, it included private car inspections and inspections for main dealers (remember the RAC checked stickers) like GT cars (So called because only Gull-able idiots went there apparantly....).....

It was amazing the things you saw......Fuegos with no drivers floor under the hardboard that somebody had put in the foot well, Minis with rotten subframes.....Sierras with slipping clutches....

I learned an awful lot by going out with him on those......

So I would imagine the worst case scenario would be me.....and 'man father' inspecting a car!

90,000 miles and ex-plod - do they retire them that early?  And I like the "you can't tow an auto" - unless your Mark of course and uncouple a thing or two  ::)

You know it bound to happen....

Mark goes to view an Omega, and the seller comes out with the line that will haunt him...

"You know much about these then?"

 ;D

the question is would Mark play dumb and say " NO not much, its the colour i like, does it go well" and let the seller talk himself into an early grave...

....or would he tear it apart and have the faulty dis pack out in 5 minutes to prove a point  :-/
