Just wondering if anyone know for sure how much data usage is used when streaming video or TV directly from the net.
So an hours streaming equals......or is it a bit more complicated than that.
Thinking of upgrading my 3G data allowance from 3 gig too 7 gig but really want too know just how much data usage first.

Are we talking Phone here, of home?

No its a Network 3 data dongle (mobile Internet).
Looking at streaming TV on my laptop from say BBC i player and wanted too find out how much the streaming would use in data usage.

The download is about 180MB to 300MB an hour, but the flash stream is smaller (and less detailed).
But use 200MB an hour and you won't go over.
Haven't used it for ages as we use TV Replay on BT VIsion instead.
The Iplayer download is also clunky!

Well theres a few places on the net you can watch films ect (wont go into detail admins) so this and catching up with a few tv shows would be handy.
But if its anything up too 300mb an hour im likely too use far too much allowance up..... :-/

I think the ones you mean are bigger than the legal (IPlayer ) downloads
Best thing is to watch 1 programme and check your router comms before and after
