Does anybody know if the BMW 520se E34 has a cambelt or camchain??? I`ve asked the question on the mymotiv forum but not had a single reply....very disappointing as you ask any question on ere and you get a reply either with the answer or some sarky reply  ;D

Depends on engine type and year, The early 12v 520 engine was cambelt, same with the early 2.5 12v. The later 24v (big black engine cover) were cam chain. Same as 525 24v, and 528.

I think the e34 12v motors were from 1989 F reg to approx 1994 L reg. Then 1994 to 1996 they were chain.
