Title: Bounced the Miggy off a railing..
Post by: MartinP on 02 February 2009, 23:40:42
Bright and early this morning, turned onto a access road to a Halfrauds near work. Drove upto a small island, eased off the power to roll  onto the island and round to the store. meerest hint of brake and i arrived at the scene of the accident!!  >:(

Went onto the island, down the camber and straight off the other side into a steel fence. Virgin snow over ICE.

Bumper & nearside headlight totalled, not sure about the wing & bonnet yet, but the bumper being pushed up did make it hard to open the bonnet.

Have now resorted to the Fester so the Miggy can go into the garage to be stripped down.

Yet another obstacle to delay the Kit car  :-/

Need to check the colour as everything was coded

Not good ... :(  but at least you are OK which is the main thing.

Talking to a mate who works for a recovery firm .. he reckons today has been the busiest day for the 5 years he's worked there... and not a single "major" as he puts it ... all "piddly dinks"..

Just glad I catch a bus to work now .... miggy use has dropped to around 60 miles a week ...

yeah ... so I thought until I did the maths ... :(  parking is £7.20 a day + fuel if I drive ... catch the bus its £20 for about 16 trips (should be 12 but the numpties are forever getting it wrong) which is about £2.50 a day.... bus stop is 40 yards from the house.. and 3 minute walk from work, car park to work is 10 minute walk. If I drive in I hit peak traffic and it takes around 40-50 minutes .. bus shoots down the bus lanes and takes 20-30. Today I saw several broken down/minor bumps and just sailed on by whilst reading me book ....  :)

So, much as I love driving the miggy .. makes sense for me to use the bus .. and no.. I DON'T have a bus pass before you make the comment ...  bloody youngsters ... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Your the first person  know who can effectively use public transport to get to work!

Where I used to work it took 1.5 hours each way, cost 3 quid and was unreliable.....compared to a 14 mile round trip in the car taking 40 minutes all in

To get to work for 9am in the morning, I need to catch the 11:00pm bus from the town centre.  I can't get back home in time before I need to leave for the next day.

Hence, public transport will never work

I'd have to walk 2 miles to the railway station, catch a train that would take me 10 miles in the completely opposite direction, walk from Birmingham Moor Street station to Birmingham New Street station and then get a train 12 miles in a slightly different direction from which I came.

Or I could just use the car and travel 8 miles door to carpark (free) via country lanes. Oh and I need my car for work as well.

I thought Terry Prachett invented Crivens - what does it mean?

Blatant theft....

Jings, Crivvens , Help Ma Boab
The Broons and Oor Wullie are famous for their limited range of memorable exclamations. Back in the dusty past (and in Kelvinside to this day) it was considered uncouth to swear or take the lord's name in vain. But then, as now, people liked to have exclamations for their exasperations. I don't want to state the obvious but in case you don't already know - the ones used by our characters are basically corruptions of religious terms.
Jings  derived from Jesus
Crivvens derived from Christ In Heaven
Help Ma Boab  derived from help me god or so help me god
Michty Me derived from Mighty God or Almighty God or God Almighty
