Title: My Merc took a hit today
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 02 February 2009, 20:01:09
Bloody woman driver, obviously didnt know how to drive on ice and snow......skidded out of a junction and straight into the front nearside.

I had right of way, so its her fault.....i was also driving on snow and ice so no chance of stopping in time to avoid the collision.

New bumper required, its split. Also one parking sensor is detached, so may need a new one
New front wing, its plastic and got a gouge in it.
New headlamp.....coz as the front wing is plastic, it gave and the headlamp took the force, breaking the brackets of it (The headlamp is still there and works but its about an inch away from where it should be)

Getting a replacement people carrier  tomorrow apparently.

Reported the accident.....and within an hour a solicitor is on the phone.....

He said Ive got to make an appointment to see the Doc tomorrow.....i think the line "Where theres blame....theres a claim' springs to mind  ::)

Cheers Cem....

It will......but the Ford Focus that hit me.....might be a writeoff.....certainly wasnt driveable after. It would be touch and go....maybe a 2grand car.....certainly done around 1grand of damage to it (if garage goes to town on it knowing its an insurance job!)

A blood-sucker more like. >:( >:( I HATE this ambulance-chasing culture. It encourages false claims and forces premiums up for everyone.  >:(

There`s a well known lady-solicitor in Liverpool; specialising in personal injury cases: and named (with the usual scouser humour) as "Miss Whiplash".......oh the pain, ooh the pleasure! ;D

Good to hear you are ok and sounds like it was not too serious a smash.

But please don't claim for any injuries if you don't actually have any.  That really gets my goat up and really does no one any favours at the end of the day.

Dont think i can be bothered tbh, last injury claim i made (and yes i did get injured) it took nine months to settle, and i had to take quite a lot of time off visiting docs (private ones as well)
I did get some back pain yesterday.....but an afternoon of cocodimnal (dont think thats the right spelling) seems to have sorted that  :y

Third party insurance have admitted liability already :y
Have had a quick assesment done by 'good' repair shop.....they are very good, however not cheap and usually only deal in repairs to mercs and beemers.....initial quote £3k  :o
Its going in tomorrow for 24hrs....so they strip the front end....check what they actually need to do and order spares and reassemble best they can......
Then when the parts come in....spray wing, bumber.....then book it in again for, they reckon 24hrs, for repair  :y

Great news that the insurance has been sorted so quickly.  Nothing worse than when insurance claims become complicated and get drawn out.  Hope you get you car back into the same order it was before the crash.
