The Senator has some mouldy bits, its been stood still for a long time. The passenger side seat belt has loads of white spots on it and stinks!!!
Car has a general mouldy smell, due to the fact its been stood still.
Any suggestions? - Was going to buy a bottle of Febreeze and see what that does.

I have a Vax, may be worth shampooing carpet, and putting in those tacky smelly things that dangle from mirror....

Yeah might be worth a go...
Not too sure on the dangle thing, always hated them. Might get one of those car ambi pure things that clips onto the vents...

She suggest frebreeze ;)
Mum loves the digi dash too, and the sound it makes. Dad was well impressed with that start up sound too :D

Febreze will mask odours and give a sweet sickly smell but it does work. TBH you need to give it all a good scrub and leave half a lemon in the boot and the other half in the car - the woman on "How clean is your house" swears by it as it absorbs pongs. Don't forget to fully extend the seatbelts cos if the mould is from damp, it could be on the wound part too. My choice - Mr Muscle mould remover and leave it in the garage with the windows down to air it out for a week seeing as your dads away. :y

Cracking idea... thats an interesting idea about the cut lemon. Boot does not seam to smell, only the main interior.
Will give that a go since its free, i'll steal one from the Fridge ;D
Cheers for that

Steal 2 you know it's worth it ;) Suggested boot simply as it's had no fresh air for 2 years and will be stale.

Didnt smell to me....try one of those air freshners stuck to an air vent.....works in my meega :y

Lot of the pong will only be evident when the heater has been run for a while!!!
as the mould loves the damp warm conditions in there!!! you can buy a bottle of stuff that you just open the top and leave car with engine running and blowers full on this kills the bacteria that causes the pong!!

I came across the same thing on Ebay as a free gift when looking for Forte Fuel treatment if it's any help ;)

I need to check the part number (half 4 in the morning, bits are out in the garage) but I have a brand spankin new seatbelt for a Carlton, still boxed. If its the same part number for the Senny then we can sort something out with the other bits we discussed.
I have used Febreze on previous cars, wet vaxed the carpets, then left the windows open with a fan heater doing its stuff to dry and circulate the air. A good dash and interior clean with various potions and lotions will soon have it all smelling sweet.

Tunnie, you could always take your dog out swimming in the local lake !
Get it to sit in the car for a few days ----------------- wet dog smell will mask any other smell on the planet :y

Thats a plan!
Dave - Very true, but at the moment i can't think of a better way to spend 1 gallon of fuel! :D
hotel21 - The Senator has a 24v back box (letter box style) but the mid section is for the 8v, which must be restricting it.
We need to find out if any members come from Glasgow come down south regularly.

I think Jim does a regular run from Scotland down south to work.
