Title: Laptops...again.
Post by: amigov6 on 04 February 2009, 19:24:29
Sold my lappy to a mate for his g/f. It was Steve's old one, bought new a year ago, only been used at home with a Belkin router. It won't work anywhere else except round the corner @ his Mums. Bloke in a computer shop said it's a problem with fujitsu siemens, settings on computer do not match network requirements. Only recognizes secure networks, connects on cable or here at home, chip driver won't update.
Sorry for random comments but i'm working off scribbled "pace notes" I'm far from an expert but logic tells me a lappy is portable so something must be able to be unlocked? I would'nt rip anyone off so i'll take it back if need be. Many of you know your stuff so i'd appreciate any ideas please, Cheers, Guy. :-/

So what exactly is the problem?  Is it that it won't access the internet through wireless?

Works at home or plugged into cable but no where else. Mate bought a new re router & it won't recognize it. Bloke shop said chip driver won't update so lappy will never pick up any other signal anywhere & charged him £30!!! :o

Sounds odd, when you say 'works at home' I assume you mean works wirelessly at home?

If thats the case, then the wireless card in the laptop works fine?!?

Works at home means my home with the Belkin re router. Mate bought a new belkin to use @ g/f house through thier cable (same as mine) but it won't connect. Bought it back round here & it connected straight away? :-?
