Title: Windscreen Marks
Post by: Iain on 06 February 2009, 19:23:37
Can anyone recommend something decent to polish out wiper scratches on my screen?
I seen it done a while ago with a mop and polisher, but what can i use with it?

Cheers

Try a centre punch and hammer.

used to do this for a living as said mop and JEWELLERS ROUGE!!!
plenty of water with it do not let the screen get hot, do not press on the mop allow its movement to do the work, stop immediately you cannot see anymore marks, there is a danger of distorting your view through the screen as its possible to polish a flat spot in the glass!!! and wash off residue with clean water! :y

lob a brick at it
report to the police get a crime number then go to insurance company
some insurance companys are good as yo dont have to pay any access when its criminal damage :y

The best stuff for cleaning scratches from the screen is the polishing kit from Frost equipment (part number S130).  It is excellent but rather messy, you must cover the body work with a cloth.

I have used it on several cars and numerous jukeboxe screens, with care it can remove quite deep scratches.

personally I dont think breaking is good idea..

from experience I recommend 1500 grid sand paper with lots of water..

after 3-4 hrs of G3 polishing with machine..

only by hand is a long long job..and considering the condition of weather in UK delay it until the snowy weather ends.. :y

Must admit that I have done the wet'n'dry trick with deep scratches, but it takes forever to polish out the matt finish and can cause distortion if not very careful to fully blend out (bit like feathering out paint).

yep..by hand polishing and no sand paper takes ages.. like 3-4 full days of work..(I did)  :P  so will never use the same style ..
