hello all
i have owned my omega for quite a long time now and it is getting on now and needs some work doing to it like o/s tierod , x2 front arb droplinks x2 front tyres + tracking needs doing also rear backbox and maybe steering idler as i find it quite difficult to keep it in a straight line and also a major service and also have a tapping noise from engine possible hydrolic lifters? the car as now done 207k it as mot in 2 mnths time and tax end of april is it worth doing all these things or should i retire her the the big scrapyard in the sky. i have been given a rover 216sli Mreg auto with t&t so am in quite a quandery what to do or which car to keep. if any of you chaps could give me some advice if it's worth doing up i would be greatful.
thanks

JamesV6CDX tried giving up his 'mega for a Rover 200. Lasted 3 days...
Sorry, can't advise what to do. That is a lot of miles, but then its a much nicer car...

No comparison.
I could NOT drive a rover 200 hatch around after being used to the comfort of the Omega. My main concern was safety, the rober brakes were terrible compared to the Omega, it is just a different league of car.
I can't advise what you should do, BUT.. if I was in your position, I would get rid of them both, and get an Omega with slightly lower miles, you'll get a bargain for £500 on ebay. If speed isn't a problem for you, you could get a cracking condition 2.0 GLS for that money...

Buy this ;D

I can't comment on the Rover... but is seems that at 200k+ miles and with all those repairs it's time to retire the Omega - but since they can be had for very little money, why not get a better one?

Senny's are cool, but overall, not better than an Omega. Sorry. Opinion. Just see them as too old....

cheers for the replys and info all
i have got quite attched to the omega it's never let me down engine wise and i have covered thousands of miles in it. so after mulling it over for a while i think am going to retire the old girl. and sell the rover to be honest it's to grandad for me and i'll miss the big comfort and space of the omega and go for an other omega a V6 one possibly a CDX or elite.

Your one may be faster than an Omega once its been looked at - presently, my MV6 would leave for dust ;)
