Did it last week, 420 out of MV6. Did include Motorway trip back from Derby though....
-
I've never actually run my tank so low that the fuel light comes on, but I would say I get about 400 miles on a run and probably a couple of gallons of fuel left in tank.
-
440, brimed tank to petrol light and praying that i can find a petrol station before too long...
half motorway the rest was the a14 / a11 >:(.... Bloody norfolk!!! BUILD SOME MOTORWAYS!!!!!!!!
:y
-
There's a gallon or so left when the low fuel has started to flash & the computer says there's only 4 miles to go. ;)
-
when i went to fill up after about 10minutes seeing the warning light i could only put 64 litres in so i presume from the warning light i still had about 8 litres left?
-
when i picked my MV6 up from its second dice with the bodyshop the light was on permanent and the miles to go was flashing at 0 miles....
and the meega stil madee it 5 miles to the petrol station!!

It's a 75 litre tank so you had another 11 litres left.
-
Shortly afer I got mine, I got on M40 then noticed I had 3 miles on the display. Next services was 19 miles.... ...still only got 72l in...
-
350 miles is what i get :-[ did u guys see the Audi A8 on a top gear a few years ago now that had 0 miles on the computer and he made it another 26 miles :-[he went from London to Edinburgh and back again in a
4.0V8 TDI audi a8 :o with 1 tank of fuel

Bloody norfolk!!! BUILD SOME MOTORWAYS!!!!!!!!
You don't know how bloody lucky you are :o at least Norfolk is all flat - all you have to worry about is a few turkeys running around ::)
Down 'ere we've got hills ;) & still no bloody motorway - not even a sniff of one :-?
The lowest I've ever dared to take mine was reading 7 miles to go, yellow light flashing, & I knew the petrol station was 7.5 miles away - we made it :y
I reckon they err on the safety side ;)
-
You're all amateurs..
I got 601 miles out of a tank my 2.5 CDX auto!!
That was from full, down to the engine chugging and running out of fuel :)
Atmittedly, it was all 50 mph on the motoway!
-
Thats going to be hard to beat. I've had 500 out of MV6, but that was at constant 80mph...
-
It literally was driving with a feather foot, no unnecessary throttle at all, no overtaking.... real grandad driving at 55mph constantly... returned about 40mpg, as honest as I'm typing this...

Tunnie would cream his jeans - he can't get that from his 2.2 ;D
-
Cheltenham to Cardiff, I can easily achieve 38mpg in the V6 if I don't go over 65 on the A roads + M4. Being a poor youth I always avoid the bridge :)
It's the short runs that kill it though... 20mpg is not uncommon going to work and back

75l in an omega equates roughly to £68.....that buys me 170 litres of lpg....and at roughly 20mpg av thats nearly 750 miles :D

I remember that episode. Notice how he didn't say how big the tank was though.
-
I've had 460 miles out of a tank of propane once, (100L tank so it holds 80 litres). Once that runs out just switch over to petrol and run for another 450-500 miles :D
Can't be many meegas out there that'll do lands end to john o'groats without stopping for fuel ;) Not bad for a 3.0, although I don't use any fuel to heat up transmission fluid in mine :P
Admittedly those kind of figures are the exception rather than the rule, more often than not it's getting a bit of a caning and shifting up at 6,000 RPM doesn't get those kinds of economy figures lol.
-
All i know as Maggie is thirsty ::)
and MR TYREBURNER dont dare try to see what you get.
I told you the last time, no more coming to ya rescue with a can??
and as for RAC, dont go there again :P
Dont think my 2.2 vec is as good as some of ya meega's :-?

I find manuals heat up nicely - thats when gear changes ease off
I will name a manual you would hate!
Escrote/Orion - the version before the Abysmal, due to bad gear change I killed one.
Change was
.1.3.5
2.4
Kept doing 1-4 rather than 2 - next pool car was an Astravan

Have you noticed you have to concentrate so hard to drive slowly

Yeah noticed that as well ;D

This is what I got driving home from my brothers in Essex on Sunday. A12, M25,
A21 and up and down those hills of East Sussex Kjon51 mentioned. I did 60-65 and a fairly light foot most of the time. Took this pic of the MID when I parked up to show my brother.. (how sad is that...!) It can be done.

But he's not driving like a grandad anymore and when he gets back in his 2.2 after his Eurotrip he'll have a heavy right foot and never see 40mpg again. ;D:-/

LOL yeah some of them are terrible, but you know if they made a slushbox version it'd take a week to get to 60 MPH and shortly afterwards the box would disintegrate ;D
I remember driving an Escrote van ages ago with a really dodgy clutch release, it would grind like a bugger trying to get into gear! So the solution was to put it in 1st with the engine off, start with the clutch down, drive off, then carefully match all the shifts to the driving speed :D Proper shed this thing, I'd have even considered swapping it for an automatic it was that bad... well maybe not quite THAT bad ;)

There are a lot of poor gearboxes out there, for change quality the best I think were the 1970s RWD boxes, the change on my old Sunbeam was superb, box not very strong but very quick and accurate, Mk2 Escort was pretty good too!
It all started to go wrong with FWD and heavily sprung gear levers.
A few years ago I would have poo pooed and auto, but driving conditions have changed so much, and to be honest the GM auto is a better auto than the manual is as a manual if you get what I mean.
I have driven Granada autos - not as good as GM.
Ones I have driven
Worst manual was the escrote box, best Sunbeam.
Worst auto Cavalier 3 speed 1600, best AR35
