Title: New fuel saving device. Yeah right.
Post by: CaptainZok on 09 February 2009, 12:44:15
More snake oil from our favourite tat bazaar.
This novelty item (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fuel-Saver-Ionizer_W0QQitemZ290294028617QQihZ019QQcategoryZ9895QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) claims to:
Save upto 8% of your fuel costs, depending on age of your vehicle.
Increase torque and power by upto 5%
Reduce emission of CO by upto:  40%
Reduce emission of HC by upto:  14%

Pretty optimistic claims for a modified air freshener I'd say. ;D

And people are buying it! And from a newbie seller, who most likely will disappear from the face of the earth.

Just shows, a fool and his money....

Ok, I understand magic boxes, super fluids etc, where you have to install it round the engine and run, dreaming that the consumpion will go down. It will - all you have to do is believe ;)
I can also understand that ionizer is good for our bodies, but how come an ionizer installed in the cabin can reduce CO2 or improve power?

I sense some questions to seller coming on...  do you think he would post them up?

Gues if you get anything more than it's in the descriprion ;)
I would just ask how the cabin air can influence lower polution and increased performance :)

Does it mean that I will fart less in my car. Less farts = less CO2 & HC pollution!! And more power and torque for my missis. ;D

Well, people bought the "turbonator" didnt they? Problem is a lot of people want something for nothing and are too lazy to do any research. When I was modding the prelude I at least did my research and, for example, knew that my bmc CDA air filter was one of the best on the market but was never fooled into believing that it was ever going to give me more than a max of about 4 extra horses despite its cost. Like anything else its about finding a supplier/mechanic you can trust, who knows what theyre talking about, is honest about the product and charges a reasonable amount.
A lot of boyracers cant afford what they really need so buy an induction kit that does fa but sounds good and theyre happy. Maybe the most "honest" of the lot was that company who made the box that fitted by your exhaust that replicated the noise of your favourite v8-that did fa, but at least it DID sound good!!!

I still have a dyno chart of Skoda octavia TDI with K&N sport filter and standard one. 137.4 HP on wheels with standard one, 137 with K&N. On the other hand we have Vauxhall 1.8 engine with 140 HP, less consumption and more torque than old X20XEV (only 136HP and hard to tune). So there are still ways to improve performance and reduce consumption but it’s not as easy as it may look like.
