Title: We can fly... but the plebs should be rationed
Post by: Nickbat on 09 February 2009, 23:10:52
This Adair Turner is a nasty bit of work. Thinks air travel should be rationed (presumably it wouldn't affect him in his capacity)

doesnt mesh very well with Lord :o Mandelsons theory that we should all be flying around europe looking for jobs. ::)

Talking of Mandy, I love this quote from Nigel Lawson (in the Hansard)

"The noble Lord, Lord Mandelson, who I am delighted is now a Member of our House, adds greatly to the gaiety of nations wherever he goes."

Your conclusion, .........

How do we get such incompetant, un-normal idots into positions of power ? They have so many hidden agendas, they are incapable of doing anything properly. Shoot the lot. (look at the money you you would save on expenses, pensions, NHS treatments etc)

So, having given lip service to the fact that flying is "bad for the environment" and should be limited how does that sit with the desperate need for a 3rd runway at Heathrow?  >:(

This government are making it up day by day. No plan whatsoever. In this climate that scares me.

And then of course we have Jacqui Smith, who apparently has claimed over £100,000 (iirc) in second home expenses,so that she can pay for a home in London as well as one in her constituency, but it turns out she actually stays with her sister in London when she is in London.
Anyone else would be behind bars for fraud. >:(

Why don't they do more flights from airports not in the south east?

Why don't they build high speed rail to get rid of the need for short haul?

She is off her trolley anyway, but there are rumours she will be put in the House of Lords soon as she is liable to lose her seat.

Personally I think a jail sentence would do some good, start with a 42 day break!
