Me & my mate were chating about cars we've owned over the years & he said he thinks that Triumph made the first injection engine or injection unit? I haven't a clue so i thought i'd put to the OOF & see what's said.
Over to you guys :y

possibly if not jaguar :y
-
I think they might have been the first british car with fuel injection
-
I reckon this is one for MDTM. :y
-
My guess it that they were the 1st to go into mass production with it in the UK at least.
-
mmm, maybe not

No, nothing like.
Jusr remember that Fuel injection has been the corner stone of diesel engines since the 20's!
I seem to recall the first production car with petrol fuel injection fitted was on a Merc.
The yanks had a VERY crude electronic job in the 50's

I was just about to add........that Triumph had another first......I think that the Dolly Sprint was the first mass produced British car with 4 valves per cylinder ............in 1973.........I could be wrong though. :y :y

Wrong - TR5 came out in 1968 - TR4A continued upto late 1967. My TR4A is a late 67 motor. Check out the TR Register (of which I have been a member since the 70s!)
Based on a Lucas system, 150psi pump, rest of system set up mechanically (using feelers!!) Remember my 69 TR6 used to be a bugger to set up properly.

Think you could be right about Dolly Sprint :-/
-
Nope....Honda actually......followed by Jensen who used the Lotus unit based around the Gm engine!
-
The (only) special or unique thing about the Dolly sprint was the fact that it had 16 valves operated by a single camshaft,no-one had done it before and afaik no-one has done it since.

I remember we had an 1850 not sure if they were the dolly sprint though, have a feeling they were 2 litre's.

Respectable.
We originally had a Triuph 2000, lovely car, then I reckon it was the 1850 Dolomite we must have had then. Seem to remember a D Badge on the rear roof piller bit. Cracking little car.
