Title: irratic idle on a veccy b - ideas?

Parents veccy b is playing up.  i think it's an X18XE.  the idle speed is irratic - sometimes climbing to 2000.  the ICV has been dismantled and cleaned - made it worse.  no fault codes stored

ideas?  is it a new ICV?  if so where's the best place to get one?

Was the gasket replaced? i had the same problem with my veccy 1.8 so i replaced the gasket and that cured it...

Air leak / Breathers....one of the small rubber hoses at the back ( top) of engine is prone to cracking and splitting....

Also the fact that a cleaner icv made it worse would make me retrace my steps in putting it all back together....something amiss with rebuild ? :-/

thanks I was thiking air leak but I'm 100 miles away so difficult to check.  i'll suggest it to parents

could be amiss with the rebuild but i didn't do it!!!

Thanks all.  think we've fixed it.  lubricated the ICV and it seems all ok for now.
