Title: Flat tyre
Post by: mars on 11 February 2009, 20:12:23
On my home after work I was nearly home and felt the car pulling slightly to the left. I parked and walked round to look at the front left tyre and could hear it hissing. I put the spare on and went to my local branch of National tyres. The guy said he wouldn't repair it and was doubtful if anyone else would as there is wear on the outer edge. The wear in question is very very slight, probably less than half an inch and not smooth, just a bit worn. Was he right or just trying to sell me a new tyre? I declined his offer of a new tyre. :(

Have it put on a steel wheel and use it for your spare if you think it is ok, but tell the tyre man it's for your bomber car if they all say the same thing.

Just be very carefull regards the condition of the tyre and only use it to get you home in an emergency

It really depends on where you go.

Basically, if you trust the tyre, then someone else will.

EG, back street garage. ;)

Sorry, scumball garage. ;D

front tyres usually wear on the inside first on the miggy,at least all mine do, I get the tyres swapped when they are about halfway, a bit like turning your underpants inside out but at least you get the mileage out of them...  ;D ;D

I had a tyre with inside edge wear and experienced the same problem with 2 "fast" fit places - both were blatantly trying to sell me a new tyre, they ended up getting stroppy when I wasn't interested.

Eventually took it to my local garage and left it with him - he fixed it no problems  :y
