Title: That numb arm ......
Post by: HolyCount on 12 February 2009, 18:34:45
As some of you might recall -- I posted a few days ago regarding my arm going "wayward" and numb.  Thank you all for words of advice and ...well ... persuading me to see the doc.

Apparently the problem is arthritis  ::) You know those swellings you get at the joints with it ? Well -- I have some of those on the vertebrae in my neck -- and they are compressing the nerves every now and then.  Only real treatment is an op to remove the growth and possibly fuse the spine. However --- risky op and if it went wrong, being so high in the spine I could end up without the use of arms and legs -- so really it would be seen as a last resort!

Meantime, they will get physio to stretch out my neck   :o  just like being on the rack !!!!!

Mind you, it only really plays up when the washing up needs doing and, naturally, I cannot wield an iron or hoover  ::)  Might have to learn to drink left handed so as not to spill it everywhere !!!!

Thanks also to Skruntie for being a pain in the neck  ;D ;)

I think that is a picture of a woman from the Padaung tribe in Burma........where very long female necks are considered beautiful.......I think they start at about 5 years old.......and then add a ring every year or so .......to slowly stretch the neck. :y :y :y :y
