got up this morning and took ann to work and noticed that my side gate was wide open
i got back from taking ann and checked my cameras and saw 3 people down the side of the house doing drugs >:( >:( >:(
i got 3 small kids as you all know and they could of easily got down the side of the house where 2 needles was left on the floor >:( >:( >:(
as you will probly know i am very angry
i've passed the video to the police
the thing i wanted to ask to pick your brains is
does anyone know of a way i could put some sort of switch on the side gate that i could run a wire into the house to a buzzer which ive got 12 volt so if someone opens the side gate again it will wake me and ann up and then ill be able to get the police down straight away to catc them in the action

a shed door alarm would do it.
have the main unit inside and the door sensor on the gate :y

My mate has a plug in Bing bong alarm. There is a sensor out side. If any one goes near the car or comes through the gate there is a gentle "Bing Bong" ofrom the plug in alarm.

should be fine, most are sealed units :y
You can pick them up from £1/value shops these days.
Other option is a sign saying "this area is monitored by CCTV"
but that only works if the druggies can read....

My mate had the same problem, I think he fitted it behind a bush a bit higher up the second time round, no detection of animals and didnt pick up on passers by.

don't think they could read
i put a sign on the front door once saying look up and smile and saw them on cam look at the sign and didn't look up as there is a small camera right above the front door so i know who is at the door
the post man comes to the front door looks up and waves now if he can't get a parcel in the letter box

Downside there is that if there was a complaint then Nick would get done by the Police and the firking druggies win.

Sadly, I fear that (after reading of a court-case recently) the use of electric fence voltages with the intent of 'causing pain or injury' is illegal.....in particular if the electrified latch/fence etc. is accessible by a person from outside of your property (e.g: gate-latch etc.).
However, personally; I would have no hesitation in using an electric fence charger to secure a gate/shed (wholely) within my property. ::)

gun turrets would be a better option :)

whats the law stand with putting carpet grips along the inside of the gate
i'm looking into getting a sensor off ebay or might pop over to maplin later and see what they got
-
Wonder if I could convert my paintball marker. Stupid thing is if I so much as pointed it outside and the police got called they send out the armed responce unit.
If I fired at someone at night and hit them in the back they can do me for it, if they came at me to attack I may get away with it.
Wonder how the law stands as an autmated sentry alert.
Imagine the robot in court. You shot at a burglar.
Robots responce. "..- -.- --. ... --- .-. ..- -.-"

Same as when Spike Milligan shot a burglar in the butt with an air riffle. He got done as the burgler was getting away from him. Had he of been coming at him he would have gor away with it.

As it's a private residence that is not needed, however if you do display that sign you MUST register and conform to the Data Protection Act on CCTV! Costs about £1,100 a year!
