Great stuff .. a big THANK YOU to you both .. and I'm quite happy to pay to cover costs and postage... there is no way either of you should be "out of pocket" for doing this.
Not shunning the concept, or anyones work.
But I really don't care about my plates being seen.
As a side note, I have seen 1 or 2 members make up nice fakeies with their forum name on.

LOL, thats a good point :yQuoteQuoteNot shunning the concept, or anyones work.Thats probably what I personally will do, purely so at meets, it helps 'meet virgins' know whos who.

Use your A4 laminator, just pre cut the A3 pouch beforehand ;) :y

could just request to have peoples specific user names on the plates too if they wanted them- i'd quite happily pay for some number plate "covers".. specially the black ones :P
I'll PM Richardirv and ask him. The design work is all his own - i'm just the laminating monkey.
He also mentioned being able to print them for free - but I don't know how many plates (or variants) he had in mind. I'll talk to the local printers next week if he can't do it. :y
Nice one, Richard.
I suppose the next step is to compile a list of those who want named plates? A la the Newent attendees list, please add your name to the list below:
Please note: type it in the EXACT FORMAT you want it on the plate.
JJLeonard
I'd like the white / yellow EXACTLY as shown in your post please :)
.. with the OOF and car silhouette ... seems to match the metal ovals we got just before xmas rather nicely
Let me know your costs and I'll paypal or cheque .. your choice :)
Many thanks
:y :y :y :y
The list hasn't grown as much as I thought! I was gonna start photoshop work tonight but not many names there
I would prefer mine to be just like pictures on the first page of this thread, if possible that is.
member names could go along the bottom in small print like some ppl do on proper plates. just means in photos they cant be read, which is ideal for me
I like that last example with the username at the bottom... I've brought the list to this end for you :y :y :yjohnty

I think the price will be fine. imagine if you had these done at a motor factors it would cost alot more. so, yeh, ok with me. :yThese, afaik, are laminated card ones, so not the same as what factors would provide...

I was just trying to give a price comparason. still a good price though. :yQuoteQuoteI think the price will be fine. imagine if you had these done at a motor factors it would cost alot more. so, yeh, ok with me. :yThese, afaik, are laminated card ones, so not the same as what factors would provide...
Yeah I hope everyone understands this! It is explained in the first post. :y
richardirv - are you providing any way of attaching? Or do we use blutak/tape etc?
I guess people wanting to use regularly could use thin velcro strips (not sure if that is legal though if left in place?), or just a bit of blutak for occasional use?Quoterichardirv - are you providing any way of attaching? Or do we use blutak/tape etc?
I thought that would be a personal choice, so no. I havn't even decided what to use myself. But for my test pics I just used some looped sellotape which seemed to work fine tbh. I just thought everyone would have different idea's of how to attach them so didn't see the point in providing a method of attachment.
Hope this is ok with everyone. :y

cunningly placed over the lettering :-X, or unless you can get yellow velcro (I know you can get white), if its same colour, and just thin strips either end.... ....then again, they may think you use fake plates ;DQuoteQuoteI guess people wanting to use regularly could use thin velcro strips (not sure if that is legal though if left in place?), or just a bit of blutak for occasional use?Quoterichardirv - are you providing any way of attaching? I had thought about this but It requires strips to be left on the plate and I suspect that PC Plod wouldn't be to happy. Bet you'd get pulled all the time.
If they are the same size as standard number plates why not superglue a 'U' channel on each end (IE the strip off a broken fridge glass shelf)?
QuoteIf they are the same size as standard number plates why not superglue a 'U' channel on each end (IE the strip off a broken fridge glass shelf)?
I think i kinda know what you mean, so it kind of hooks over the original plate?
Right, how much posted to burton then, so i can paypal the cash to you?. :y
Was thinking of getting some 8/10 mm plastic tubing. Run a stanley knife (Carefully) down one side to split it. then either put a piece either end of the number plate or a long piece either top or bottom of the plate and use it like a long C clamp method to hold the show plate on.
ok. keep us informed. :yQuoteRight, how much posted to burton then, so i can paypal the cash to you?. :y
I havn't got an exact figure for postage yet. Still loads to sort out. I am sorry its taking so long. My guess is about £6-8 pair. I am going to post just one when they are all complete then I will have an exact figure rather than just guessing.

Just realised they will be slightly bigger, They are printed on paper exactly the same size as a plate but after laminating they will be a bit larger. Doubt it would be enough for this not to work though. :y
Just hit a bit of a snag, I just placed an order for a A4 laminator and some A2 pouches! Only to recieve a phonecall from the company to query why I purchased an A4 laminator and A2 pouches, After I explained what I was going with them he advised me it would not work and that if I cut the pouches down from A2 that they won't seal properly, he said they might seal temporarorly but once cooled and after a day or so the seal would fail. He said to do what I ask properly I would need a roll laminator, bla bla bla!!
So I canceled the order and am now back to the drawing board. :'(
All idea's are welcome!!
That's assuming that it's a heat seal laminator.
Sister in Law used to laminate business cards on an A4seet, leaving about 10-15mm between each one on all sides and never had a problem :y :y
TBH, it's not like they're going to be going up and down the road like it... Just sat stationary in (hopefully) brilliant sunshine ::) ::)
i think there a great idea ill have a pair for the tig when there ready
I have a hot seal laminator, never had an issue with cutting to size (leaving 2 or 3mm around edge). One thing to be careful of is sharp corners - they will need rounding off.
not seen any yet. just thinking aloud.QuoteI have a hot seal laminator, never had an issue with cutting to size (leaving 2 or 3mm around edge). One thing to be careful of is sharp corners - they will need rounding off.
I think i'll end up re ordering tomorrow!! how cheap are the A2 pouches you seen. Need to be at least 250micron i think
and yes I will round off the edges :y
If any spare and its possible I would also like a pair that just has"Skruntie"
in full size on it's own please as well as the other 2 sets. :y :y

If Admin is ok with this I have no problem creating that for you.
just 'skruntie' on a yellow or white background obviously isn't an issue - its when you use the logo or terms OOF/omegaowners we need to check :)
noticing my name is still missing off the list... im deeply hurt... :'( :'( :'(
Need to check & with who? Surely this good for the forum unless use at non OOF meets is an issue. Even so we've got OOF stickers for the world to see, 2 bigguns on mine (don't do discreet) & rightly proud of 'em. I accept i could be missing a valid point & toys are in the pram tonight :D just seems we can't do anything lately. ::)

Fair go. I remember the ink/paintwork issue when Mike.D put the idea out about flyers hence they were laminated. Still got a few in the door pocket. 8-)QuoteNeed to check & with who? Bottom line, though, we are obviously keen for people to promote the site, but we just need a couple of safeguards in place (eg, people printing off flyers themself on inkjet printers, and sticking on a car, only for it to rain, and ink to run onto paintwork)...

Not a problem, although we are not using the black ones just the white & yellow as a pair.
Price isn't confirmed but won't be more that £8 for the pair.

Is linking to here off my web site and my Ebay ad with the logo OK?
:'( Cutting Down this 250micron Laminate is tougher than I expected!! Could do with a Guilotine. Slow Progress!!
Do you reckon running an iron over them with some cloth inbetween will help flatten them out a bit as they are not as flat as i'd like!!
Tried weight, doesn't seem to do anything. Might give the iron a go tomorrow. They aren't bad its just annoying me.
It kind of all depends on how each person attaches them, but yes i'm hoping they will.yeah true
Are they curling as you laminate them?
Turn it down a bit and do them twice, once face up and once face down ;)
Pleminary I am gonna say £8 Pair, but until I send one I won't know the exact postage.
Ordered 50 Padded envelopes yesterday 530mm x 125mm. Its gonna be a tight fit!! lol
Yeah will do, once I know what the postage is I will be able to calculate it for you
Cheers bud, you'd of laughed today, me stood in my kitchen ironing laminated number plates!! I even melted 2 by accident. Gotta re-do them!! LOL
I'm lead to believe that the reason the laminated stuff "curls" is a slight difference in temperature between the top and bottom sheets, one contacts the hot roller, the other doesn't, so they end up slightly different.
Apparently, one way of sorting this is to send the item back through the other way up ... this means that both sides have had a "hot + cooler" run and they end up flat.
This came from a guy who does commercial printing and a fair bit of laminating for a living, I have no knowledge or proof that it works .... if you have a "spare" laminating pouch it might be worth a try ???

My laminator has a switch for 150micron and 250micron. The laminates used are 250. would it be safe to put the ones already laminated back though or would it cause meltdown? I may test one on the 150 setting but twice through but there isn't much I can do about the ones already done!!
I'm sure I'd already said that!!!!!!
If you want to send a single set then I'll take them... PM Sent :y :y :y
