Title: What is going on?

Looks like

1) Photography is under threat - new laws means that photoing a Policeman can get you done on terror charges

2) Pilots are going on strike as they do not want ID cards, who actually does?

i think its a diabolical frigging liberty myself. why doesnt some  assasinate this p***k. cant we have a whipped round to get someone to do it

I`ll do it for a £25,000 just enought to pay the old mans mortage off and a few quid in the bank... ::) :P

Taken from a letter from a pilot in today's Telegraph:

On one occasion, on an international flight, my nail clippers were confiscated – I assume security considered I might hijack myself with them. Prior to departure, the handling agent presented our pre-flight paperwork, together with a set of chef’s knives removed from a passenger. They were given to me for safe- keeping during the flight.

I stowed them next to the flight-deck crash axe.

so.. why, exactly, would a pilot need nail clippers to hijack his own aircraft?

.. and why couldn't he do it with an axe instead?

Of all people to carry ID cards I think pilots should.  and all trades carrying paying customers., but these of course could/should be issued by the company they work for.

National ID cards to be visible I dont agree with as they are easyly nicked.

Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't pilots had identity cards for years?
When I was delivering to the aviation industry years ago, everyone who went airside had to be wearing their airside permit.
