Chin up Bertie :y :y :y :y

Just give her a good send off and have a "knees up" to make her proud afterwards :y :y :y

Remember that she's free of the burden she was suffering and will look down on you guys to make sure you do the right things. It's a time to celebrate your mums life and say goodbye.

Arranging the funeral is always hard, but I have to warn you .. there is more to come .. :(

The actual funeral is tough enough, but then there is the gathering after .. which can get tiresome, and then there is the legal side, either probate (if there is a will) or "letters of administration" if there is not.

Some of the pen-pushers can be right little hitlers and make life exceedingly horrible ( this happened when my Dad died) .. others can be helpful and courteous .. as was the lady judge when Mum died.

All along you can meet both sorts ... from the Bank Clerk who would not take a Military ID card as proof of ID, when I had driven 200 miles for the appointment, to the Probate Clerk who pointed out I had used a wrong form, called up the right one on her computer, filled it out with me, then printed it ready for the Probate Judge to see, and that Judge being kindness itself and taking me through the process with as little trouble as possible.

You will get frustrated, angry and upset .. but it has to be done "their" way. Eventually all will be complete and you can look back and say to yourself .. "I did it for Mum" .. and be proud.

Funerals are never nice, but they can be an opportunity to celebrate a life as well as being a form of closure. Hope that it goes as well as it can for you and yours. Sorry to hear of your loss,
