Is anyone up to date with what the barstewards did in the end with the proposed car tax changes?
I think end of Feb was the optimum time to cash in the old tax/ renew early March in order to maximise the time on the old rate, but having just read the form, it seems that if you retax within 21 days you don't get a refund.

On checking some more it seems that it is only going up by £5 this year and then £30 next year (band K, post 2001 cars).
But they manage to make this sufficiently complicated I may be wrong. Anyone confirm?

Have a look at the Parkers website... You can put your car details in it and it will tell you how much tax you'll be paying...
Doesn't sound like it's worth getting a refund and then taxing it again for the sake of a fiver...

Looking at the chart on there, in 2011 I'll have to pay £405 :o a year for a 2.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
" Please note: All cars registered between March 2001 and March 2006 that produce more than 225g/km CO2, will temporarily join Band K in 2009 and 2010. "
my 2.2 is rated at 243g/km so after 2010 that will be band L >:(

Agreed, but at one point it was going to be another 200 quid plus.

But that means 2 years tax is worth the same as the car!
I'll be selling and buying a year 2000 model
